I called NVC tonight and they said my expedite request was approved. NVC is now sending his case to the embassy. Does anyone know how it works after this? My husband's case was complete so there isn't anything left except the physical exam and interview. How soon do they schedule the interview?

Congrats. May I ask what was the reason for expedition?

The biggest reason I worded in the letter was the threat of my husband being forcibly returned to Iraq where he has had death threats. His visa expired in March of this year for Jordan and his stay was tenuous at best. If he went back to Iraq and managed to not be killed he still would have no way to go to the embassy interview as they don't conduct them in Iraq. I had one other personal issue added to this though I prefer not to discuss that. Basically I wrote a strongly worded letter and so did my congresswoman's office and I provided proof of his refugee status and news stories of other Iraqis married to Americans and the problems they faced.

I heard many stories on NPR about the danger in Iraq, esp Journalists or anyone who has something to do with the American.

He is really deserved an expedition.

The interview might be 1-2 month from now. They should send some document instructed for medical exam before the interview. Good luck

I understand now, hope everything goes well.

Thanks for your replies. Ironically we no longer need the expedite as my husband got approved for refugee. The refugee organization that represents the United States already booked his plane ticket for two weeks from now. We waited most of the year for refugee and didn't think it would ever be finished so we were trying to speed up the spouse visa. I can't believe the expedite was approved and then he was approved for refugee within 24 hours. Thank God I will be together so soon!
