Arranging Initial Visa AND, follow up Waiver (I-601) appointments to be closer to each other to avoid long stay in Juarez, MX.

OK all, in brief here's my story:

In Feb 2008 I submitted the I-130 for my wife (of Mexican decent - I am a US Citizen and we have 2 kids togetherl, 2 and 4yrs old). On Sat Nov 22 we received the appointment date for her Visa hearing for Jan 9, 2009. Great!! However, since she has no proof of legal entry into the USA (she lost her vistor entry Visa a long time ago when she came at 14 yrs of age), we know we need to schedule another appointment for the waiver of inadmissability (I-604). So, I called today to schedule the appointment under the USCIS Teletech call appointment system for filing the waiver application. The official said the soonest date was Feb 26, 2009. That's almost 2 hole months apart form the initial IR-1/CR-1 date. Needless to say, the emotional tole on my wife and young kids, in additiona to the financial hardhsip - extra time and money to stay in Juarez (not my 1st pick for a vacation) is a huge issue.

That said, can anyone help me with solid advise on how to get both dates to fall within a shorter amount of time (say 1 or 2 weeks tops)? I am contemplating rescheduling the initial Visa appointment to see what is the next availabel date. However, you think the State Senator approach can work - any others???? I don't want to wait that long as I can not stay with my family (the kids will join the trip) that long or it's bye, bye, job, hello unemployment.

Thank you!
