Is it necessary to have a wedding party?

We are planning on getting married in a very small ceremony at a mosque (just us, my parents, my sister and her husband) and taking a honeymoon trip afterwards. Because of financial and other constraints--both of us moving back to the US and having a lot on our plates, the fact that neither of us are psyched about wedding planning, and our friends and family are spread all over the country--I would rather not have a wedding party right now. Do you think this will be a problem with immigration at some point? We have a lot proof of our relationship, but I'm wondering if this could be an issue later on down the road.

Nah, I don't think so. Besides, who the heck can pull off a huge wedding in less than 90 days! :P

Though I wonder cause more and more people keep saying 'I cant wait to attend your wedding, I hope I'm invited!" My guest list keeps growing which will be interesting for what's supposed to be a "simple and small" wedding :innocent:

No sweetie I don't think it sounds to me that you will have any problems. Just take alot of cool pictures of all you guys at your wedding and thats plenty. Good luck!

I agree, if you can't have a wedding party, just take a lot of pictures...especially with friends and family. Not sure if this is unusual, but someone I know was once asked about the wedding ring. At least if you can, get some wedding rings.

The more pictures you take the more proof of a relationship you have. My inlaws threw my wedding party two days after we were married, because that was a the first Thursday night after we were married and we wanted all of his family that could to be there! We took thousands of photos!!! But I only submitted probalby 15 to them USCIS for review of our case... He is taking more with him from my more recent visit and the originals of what they already have... so that they can see that there is still a loving relationship and the more you have with his family and your family and all of you together the better they like it... My family was of course clueless back in the states-- my fault--I thought no one would accept the idea, BOY was I wrong. They all really just want me to be happy, and if its with a MENA guy-- so be it! No one knew when I left that I was getting married, and I thought everyone was still kinda upset about it all...but my friends here just threw me a bridal shower--it was such a surprise, and so much fun!!! When hubby gets here, we will have an additional wedding party-- reception-- just so everyone can have the chance to meet him, and he doesn't have to go door to door to say hello to everyone!

Point is the government just wants proof that you love one another and that your families are happy with your decision to marry! We also had friends on his side and mine write letters stating that they believe we married for love and not any other reason but to make one another unbelievably happy for the rest of our lives! -- Its fun to look at those letters now and smile== to know even though everything wasn't known when I left for Jordan that first time, EVERYONE was so willing to share what they did know to show their support of the marriage!==-In any case, good luck and have a GREAT wedding! When we got married, the only ones present was the justice of the peace, my husband and I, and his parents. We took pictures of us signing the papers but that's it. Do you all think that will be a problem? At this point, by the time my husband gets here, I don't think I want to have a wedding. We will have one - obviously - we have to have one because my entire family is waiting for the BIG DAY - but we will only be doing it for them. We both just want to be together. It's already been a long haul and now we're going to have wait another year at least before he can be with me....

Anyway - do you guys think that what we have showing our signing of the marriage license is enough? His parents were present and they were our witness.

We never had a wedding; just signed the marriage contract in front of the adoul and two witnesses we didn't know. It wasn't a problem. Hubby got his visa the day after a 10 minute interview, and they didn't even look at our evidence. You never know what will trip you up and what will win the day. Every case is different.

The cost of a wedding / reception isnt going to determine how much love you have for each other.

Dont worry about it.

No. You can always submit congratulation letters from family and friends with copies of the envelopes and congratulation cards. You can have a fancy wedding and there be nothing behind it or just something quiet and it mean every thing to you two. Get lots of letters and take pictures of you in different locations doing different things and give copies of phone records and receipts from trains and flights. I think that is sufficient

OK I"m confused... she got married here (K-1 Visa) and now she needs "evidence" that she got married??? Photos? Letters? for an Interview???? Are we supposed to be collecting photos and stuff for the AOS interview???? We didn't take a single wedding photo and didn't have a big party... just announced our marriage at the monthly Muslim Community Potluck... this isn't a first marriage for either of us, and we were already married (Islamically) in Egypt LONG AGO, so we didn't make a big deal out of this "wedding"... If we need to dress up and take photos, etc. I guess we better get started... I thought they were more interested in seeing if we were living together as husband and wife... (joint bank account statements, car insurance, etc.) than love letters and a photo album..

Oh Lord let me live through this long drawn out process... and let this be my LAST marriage, Yarab!

Yes, you need proof of photos and things in case you have an AOS interview(not everyone does)

My husband and I did not have a wedding party, nor did we have any photos of our "wedding". BUT we had photos of us at various places between the K-1 and the AOS interview. So that's fine. But in our case, the officer giving us the interview didn't even ask to see ANY photos so it wouldn't have mattered either way.

So start taking some pics just in case! They are great to have even if the proof isn't needed in the end! :)

What do people have to have at removing conditions?Do pictures help at that point at all?
