We were Approved

My SO and I had our interview on 11/21/2008 at 7am..

We got to the embassy about 5 minutes to 7, it was a little unorganized outside because it was the first day the had people coming in that were using the new appointment system.

We left our phones and everything with his friend that drop us off, only to realized that the little bottle of lotion I had that I was able to go on a plane with, I cannot bring it into the embassy! Makes no sense!

So there were all these ppl that worked for the embassy that were outside checking info and telling you what line to go in.

The one lady that look over our forms told us we need to have paid 2 visa fee, I like "WHAT" why would we need to pay 2 fees when we only want 1 visa? then she asked if it was filing I said yes, she was like oh go to that lady over there! Who looked over our paper works and send us in the right line.

We got thru security and was sitting in the waiting area by 7:20am, right away we realized the were calling numbers out of order, so I was hoping even though we had 18 we would be called soon. No such look we waited for about an 1hr and 20mins. They didn’t call our number the called him by name.

So we went to the first window, she asked us for 156, 156k, 157, and DS 230 part 2 I had two separate package put together so I handed her both of them. Then she asked for his passport I am looking thru the folder and about to start panic when I realized we had already given it to her. She then ask for his medical, police record, my tax return, W2's, affidavit of support. I had all the financial stuff put together in one package so I just handed her everything, she gave me back some stuff.

Then she asked were his daughter was since we had her on the application, we told her she would follow-him. So she told us she had a year to come up on that visa but if we missed the year, then I should filed for her since we would be married by then and it would only take a year if I filed than if he was. So I asked what we would need to do when we are ready for the baby to come up on that visa she said to just email them. Oh yeah she asked us a couple questions too, she asked my SO who filed for him, he said his fiancée, she asked what my name was and he told her.

Then she had him do his fingerprint, which he did, but then she sends us over to window 17 to do it again. Once we were finish we went back to sit down, then she called us up again (window 6)we went back up to the window she said she was just making sure we came back to the right place, so to have a seat.

About 10mins later our number was called and when I realized it was window 8 that was calling us I got real nervous because she was mean, she snapped at someone earlier. So I am like Oh God not the mean lady!

When we got up she was like hi how are you, we responded and said we were fine. Then she asked us something but I turned my head away and didn't quite hear because I thought someone said we drop something.

Then she asked us how we met, we laughed and I said who are you asking? She said whoever is excited to tell let, so I told my SO to tell her how he stalked me, she started laughing. He told her the story. Then she asked when we met? When did we get engaged? Do we have any kids, I said no, my SO said yes, she then asked how old, he said 6months, she turned to me and said "its not your baby" I said No. She then asked me for my passport and I gave it to her, she said I noticed that you have been to Jamaica quite a few times, where did you stay, I said my first trip I stayed with My aunt and once our relationship started getting serious I said with him. She asked if I had additional family in Jamaica I laughed and yes, too many to name. Then she said how about the States, I said yes, I whole lot there too. She then left I saw her talking to someone, I told my SO that I know she thinks you gave me BUN! Why didn't you tell her we were just friends for the first 7months? She then walk back over gave asked for his passport, we handed it to her, she asked if we had the number written down we showed her the pink slip the guy had given us when we came in and told us to write the passport number on it. She then gave its little cardboard looking paper that she stamped something on and told us to go down to DHL... So, I said wait does that mean we are approved? She yes! Then we busted out laughing!

We took the slip over to DHL and paid $750 JA dollar and they said to pick up the passport within 3-4 business days.
