THINKING AHEAD A TAD

Coming back to my friends, as someone around here would say, I can only

come up with one thought to write about. But first I want to make sure not

to neglect, even if it’s a bit premature, to wish everyone here at Visajourney

a wonderful seasonal Thanksgiving day. That you are surrounded by all of

your loved ones, especially the children. I ask you to take them in your arms

and tell them how much you love them, make them feel it.

Now to my one thought.

I have been thinking that once again, it is time for a tired old white haired

year to hit the door, walk away and take the last page of our calendar. I am sad

to see this old man leave. He is limping wounded and battered and his heart

torn apart for what we made him see the past twelve months. He is not to blame

but he promised me….

I saw him being hailed and cheered as the huge crystal ball slid down New Years

Day on Times Square. I was told and reminded that the year would bring prosperity

and new hope for the masses. But it is not his fault. Father time betrayed him and

forced his eyes to see misery, suffering and death by the thousands. He failed me

and failed my people. Now he shuffles his tired feet towards the exit and leaves me

wondering. I wonder if I want to be part of the masses to hail and cheer the New

Year on Times Square. I fear that I will be lied to again and betrayed during his

presence in our midst for another twelve months, when he will too limp out of here.

changed time zones on me, they tied my hands. I can only be on watch on my time

and not theirs”. ‘Hmmm”, I said. “But you lied to me”

“No, I didn`t pal”, the old man said.

“Bush lied to you, I didn`t”.

I knew it was not his fault.
