I'm kinda mixed on this.

Firstly, there's too many damn fat people. I don't see why society should be catering to people who can't stop stuffing their face and stomach full of the sh*t all the time. I would say make them pay for two seats, but..

Secondly, the seats in airplanes are simply way too small and tight even for normal sized people.

A clear compromise is make some more room in the seats, then, if the fatties are still too big, charge them 2 seats.

The issue is they don't pay for two seats and "little people" like yours truly end up occupying only two thirds of my paid for space.

I just had that experience flying from FLL to ORD this week.

All I can say is thankgawd it was a "only" 3 hours flight. :star:

I've been very very lucky so far in that pretty much all of my flights are right next to someone normal sized, and being an outgoing person, I usually laugh quite a bit on the flights, especially if they serve alcohol.

I like your spirit SRVT!

There is wisdom in these words. People, take heed.

I had a lady sit on my arm one time

That made my circuits hurt.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

ouch! was it ok?

on the way over there last time (two months ago) the fat welsh woman sat next to me kept putting her leg where my leg was and kept putting her arm on my thigh... i'd have thought she was a lezzer if it wasn't for her husband sat next to her and her child in the row behind. people have no respect for anyone else's personal space, or arms!

 I had just sat down and went to grab my seatbelt from her seat (no clue why it was there) anyways she sat on my arm. she had on this massive fur coat that was on top of me the entire flight. thank god it was only a 40 minute flight.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

had a flight canceled last week and was offered standby on another airline/flight to come home at the same time as my canceled flight. decided to try the flight even though it was over sold. the gate agents made a "goof" on the number of people on the flight as I managed to get onto the plane with 3 others and there was only 1 empty seat (sort of). the person on the adjacent seat was occupying half of the empty seat. I promptly let one of the other 3 people take that 1/2 seat, got off the plane, and took a later flight where I was able to obtain a complete seat for just me. the airline couldn't believe I would be gracious and give up a seat after the huge foul-up I'd been through earlier. Oh well ...

you got lucky! i'd rather wait and get them to pay for my hotel too than have to endure a flight with 1/2 a seat.

They didn't offer you a comp for your 'niceness'??

Been in similar situations... amazing what a smile and a nice gesture can get you sometimes- with a free comp.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

OTTAWA (Reuters) – Obese people have the right to two seats for the price of one on flights within Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled on Thursday.

The high court declined to hear an appeal by Canadian airlines of a decision by the Canadian Transportation Agency that people who are "functionally disabled by obesity" deserve to have two seats for one fare.

The airlines had lost an appeal at the Federal Court of Appeal in May and had sought to launch a fresh appeal at the Supreme Court. The court's decision not to hear a new appeal means the one-person-one-fare policy stands.

The appeal had been launched by Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz and WestJet.

My daughter and I recently flew to the Philippines in October and boy was I in for a wake up call. I havent flown coach since I was 9 and I'm 43 and around 240 lbs. so I can relate to people who have problems with one seat. My problem is my height at 6'3" and the jerks in front of you have no respect or concern and just flop their F****** seat back. I had on several flights to MAKE the attendants have these people let return their seats to the upright position because if I ask its not going to come out in a manner to kindly and why should it because the people in front of me didnt give a rats ### in the first place abouts my knees.

when that happened to me and i was told to put my seat upright the woman who requested it was kindly informed that she had no right to ask me to put my seat upright. i'm surprised you weren't told the same thing...
