oh noes! my bmi is 28.5! I'm peeved I went to the dr today and I gained 6lbs! I lost 2lbs of fat mass and gained 8lbs of fat free mass...it wasn't even water weight either! my bmi went up almost an entire point from that muscle gain. stupid stupid thing! :P

No worries then :)

Muscle mass is always heavier than fat mass. And even in that world, white fat is lighter and more unhealthy than brown fat. So look for Holiday foods that increase brown fat.

ugh what foods will those be?

I'm not a holiday binger btw :P

I've increased my weights to insane amounts to fill in skin lol. I'm insane. Obviously it worked because the last time I weighed was 11 days ago.

Well you answered your own question. HAL 9000 recommends doing what the French do... eat smaller portions over a longer period of time. And take advantage of the cold to walk a little bit more because that increases your basal metabolic rate. Burns more white fat away in comparison to brown fat.

yessss that's what I do...eat every 3hrs...my basal is pretty high due to my muscle mass...that's on this paper too...

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

are you sure you calculated it right ..lol my BMI is about 31..

i used this site... http://www.findmybmi.org/

according tho that site I am not obese, just overweight...

Well the good thing about borderline BMI numbers is that water weight and normal metabolism can and does fluctuate the actual index. All it takes is a little consistent push to move it further down.

Ok, can someone explain why there are no universal BMI charts?

the American one I tried puts me at BMI 18.5 and in the underweight category (yet they did tell me I qualify for the trial sample of acai berries)

the European one puts me at "Your BMI is 19, indicating your weight is within the normal range (between 18.5 and 24.9) for adults of your height. Maintaining a healthy weight may reduce the risk of chronic diseases associated with overweight and obesity."

Is there a universal BMI chart?

American used: http://www.findmybmi.org/

European used: http://www.eufic.org/article/en/rid/eufic-bmi-calculator/

yeah some people are just lucky, I guess... my brother eats anything and everything and he is as skinny as a bean pole :P

You can have a weird body shape that makes you look thin when you really are really overweight - basically guys with pot-bellies.

are you implying that my brother has a pot belly?? ..lol he doesn't by the way...

Just suggesting that some people who look thin - can have a Kermit-the-frog bodyshape that hides the fat (until the shirt comes off).

I have a tentative plan to run 10 miles on Thanksgiving morning so I can burn off about a third of the calories that I plan to consume later on.

But I'm playing it by ear. :P

Currently, the forecast for here is kinda warm/not freezing on T-Giving. If so, I might get my fat ####### on my bike and go for a ride.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Good thinking. I definitely need a contingency plan.

I read the average Thanksgiving meal is 3000 calories. I'm guessing that doesn't include booze because it sounds awfully low to me! :o

I just plan on eating turkey and veggies...I'm not very fond of all the other stuff traditionally cooked on TG, and I can't stand pumpkin. :dead:
