Obama hasn't been to church since winning the election, but he finds time to go to the gym!

Who cares. There's a bunch of religious people who don't go to church, and there's also religious people who DO go to church who like to have gay sex with male prostitutes. Obviously there isn't one better than the other.

you come up with strange things to say

Just pointing out the irony here. Bottom line is, going to church or not isn't a measure of religious devotion.

Actually, I've found that those who don't go to church tend to be more "Christ-like" and better ambassadors for their religion than those who fervently attend church.

lol

My family is a bit.. weird. Those who live their lives by what they speak are the ones who go to church, and actually hold respectable views, and even respect gay marriage. The ones most aggressively religious (i.e. #### gay marriage, outlaw all abortion, etc.) unto others are the ones who don't go to church, and are in my more immediate family, rather than extended. Also went with my ex to church and the people there were actually rather decent. Just to test their open-mindedness I went in a Black Sabbath t-shirt and ironically some people stopped me to tell me how they kick ###.

The point of that is there really is no consistent judge of who is more religiously devout. It's simply let your beliefs be your actions. One thing that is surely consistent is those who preach the most and are the most religiously aggressive (church or not) are the ones with the most issues, and, I find, quite a few skeletons in their closet.

I go to mass pretty much every single Sunday and my husband...the non-Catholic, non-religious dude, plays bass in the choir. But some days I am grading or don't feel well, and I just choose not to go. Once...it was probably 2 full months of Sundays (in a row) that I didn't go to church.

You know what happened when I went back? The priest and some of my friends said "Hey, we missed you." That was it. No one made me feel bad because I didn't go to church.

I'd rather have someone in office who isn't just going to church because people expect and is therefore a big hypocrite, than the guy who attends church religiously (Bush, Clinton, etc) for show, yet acts in ways that contradict that faith.

Well if its the church of 20 yrs of that crazy man then finding a new church would be a good change

I know you meant this at least partly in jest, but I think there's a lot of truth here. Further, if the toxic preaching of Jeremiah Wright is what Obama considers representative of the spirit of Jesus' teaching and life, then it may do him well to take a vacation from church for a while, sort of a de-tox program, before starting to find a church home again.

Knowing politicians, I never got the feeling he was sincerely a church-goer to begin with.

maybe he just can't find a decent pastor.

I imagine he doesn't feel so good about churches these days after having to end his relationship with his former pastor.

He doesn't need a church to be spiritual. Give him some time ....he's probably searching to find a church to belong to in D.C. when he moves into the White House.

God did his job. Time to move one.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. Agreed. Those who speak the most and loudest know the least. Those who most desire to lead are the least qualified to do so. Those who claim the most wealth/power/attractiveness have the least.
