HI

In DS 230 Part 1 form do you enter your spouse's maiden name or married name for question 1? The reason why i'm asking is b/c for I-130 i entered my spouse's maiden name. So i'm wondering if i should enter the same in DS 230 , question 1.

Also, does the passport copy reflect spouse's marital status? B/c my spouse currently has her maiden name in the passport. Should she update her passport to reflect her marital status before making a copy to be included with DS-230 Part 1.

plz do help me with your answers.

sincerely,

john

I think the easy route, is to stick with the name you originally used when filing the forms. I personally chose to keep my maiden name through all of this as it was easier to quickly fill out the paperwork without having to change my passport, ss card, drivers license etc. Once hubby arrives here and the worst of this is behind us then I will change my name to my married name.

john,

Your wife should enter the name she's using and wants to be known by at the time she fills out and submits the form.

My wife's passport was in her maiden name at the time I petitioned for her and when she applied for her visa (and still is today). All of her immigration paperwork was submitted in her married name.
