ok here is the back ground

married 9 years ago to a us citizen that then immigrated to Canada and overtime became a Canadian citizen

we have now undertaken to get back to the US we filed i 130 and affidavid of support and i had my montreal interview that went well but i was missing

a translation for a french birth certificate so they asked for it which i sent in and expect approval soon ...so far so good

We own our home here in Canada so that will be the last thing, selling the home before the final move

here are my questions

1) what kind of visa will i initially get, I understand it is some kind of paasport stamp that will allow me to "land" at a port of entry that is not in fact a green card but acts as one until i get one is this correct?

2) when i get there i can apply for SSN using this passport stamp right? even if I do not have my actual GC

3) for the actual green card is this something i apply for after i land or do i do that while still in Caanada waiting for my house to sell?

4) once i land is there any kind of AOS i need to do?

5) What type of green card will i get? 2 years conditional or 10 years since we have been married 9 years already and filed i130

seems the more threads i read the more confuse i get so please can someone lay it out for me ?? Thanks

Maybe one last question .....

after i get approval ...how long do i have to actually land ?

and after i enter the US if i need to return because the house is not sold what do i do ?

if i enter the us after a[pproval if only for a visit after approval will they consider me as landed from that point on?

thanks again

Ater approval, you will expected to receive a visa. You have, I think at least 3 months to land (better check).

When you crossed POE without Visa, you're Canadian, show your passport to them. I think they treat you as visitor.

When you crossed POE with your visa, your passport is stamped serving as temporary green card. You can travel back & forth US & Canada as many time as you want since your passport is stamped. The greencard & SIN will be sent to your US address within a month.
