its an unexpected ...at least something iam not anticipating eventhou we really hit it off right...and after other marriage proposals in my life, this is obviously "the one" coz i didn't hesitate not a bit- its a "yes, ill marry you". Too bad we can only look at each other for no hug and kiss being in M.E. & both strangers to this country, we don't want to act inapproriately that can jeopardize his visit or worst our relationship. He bought the ring.(L)

My husband was my first love. We had made a promise to each other as children that we would get married. Well, we were separated for years and then we got back together. From that first conversation after a years, we knew that we would not let each other go again. It was a mutual decision to get married but we had a formal engagement ceremony on December 18th, 2004. The ring was blessed and all of that with lots of family and a cake. It was like a wedding. Here we are, full circle. The promise we made to each other is finally about to be made true. Can't wait for him to be here. :)

I am new to VJ but thought this would be an appropriate first post since the reason I've started coming here is because I am newly engaged.

Kelroy and I knew each other for a year and half before getting engaged - he bought the ring.

My family and I went to Jamaica for New Year's. We arrived on the 31st and stayed at a hotel in Ocho Rios. That night, shortly after midnight while we were alone he pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes! The next day we all (me, him, my parents) went to his family's house for dinner, where he publicly proposed in front of EVERYONE (my parents, his parents and aunts and brothers and sister and cousins, etc.). He was so scared, but it was very cute and sweet.

I was actually SHOCKED that he was proposing. I saw it coming a few weeks before we went to Jamaica because his aunt asked me if I preferred yellow or white gold. But prior to that I had NO IDEA that he was planning to propose or that he had been saving up for a ring...

Oh yeah, and he custom designed the ring himself - I was VERY IMPRESSED with his taste and style which was unnecessary but a great bonus!

Welcome Tracee and very sweet story!

Thanks! It was so much fun seeing him propose in front of everyone cause no one but his aunt knew he was going to propose. We have a ton of pictures and everyone was so surprised. It will be great for the memories, and I can't wait to share the pictures with our future children someday...
