My husband just assumed I knew after the first time we met. I had to file for him twice due to some indecissions on my part. We would have been married 3 years instead of two had I not got cold feet.

Went over on a "Surprise" trip - had a mutual friend deceive him into picking up a friend of "hers" at the local train station - for valentines week this year. The look on his face when he figured out I was the friend - wish I woulda had a camera in my hands! BLISS! Anyhow, he returned the surprise by propsing to me on Valentines Day in the Norwich Cathedral. And the look on my face was just as happily shocked! Been living with a goofy grin on my face ever since! :content:

Hubby took me on this long walk around his community, climbing around the army barracks and a bunch of weeds, drop offs, and barbed wire, to the end of the airport runways. While we were sitting out on one of the lights waiting for a plane to fly in at night, he whipped out the ring and asked. It was nice.

Then we went to rent a crappy hotel room and celebrate. We had champagne for breakfast with the family and assorted friends the next morning.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

We knew each other for over 8 years (through work). The office that I worked at closed but we continued to keep in contact through Emails. Finally met in person in Feb of this year and we clicked. We both discussed that we were not into long distance relationships, but after she went back to Ecuador we kept thinking about each other. We talked it over and decided to start the process. On my 2nd trip to Ecuador I spoke to her parents. On that same trip we travled to a small town close to Quito (can not remember the name) we took a waterfall tour and I proposed at the base of one of the waterfalls. I bought the ring. It was a little planned but I think it was romantic none the less. Jorge

We knew each other for 1 year and 8 months.

The proposal wasn't super romantic, but I'm not that romantic either, so it was just perfect for both of us :)

He bought my engagement ring and wedding band, I bought his wedding band.

I thought, I'm the only one indifferent, but I'm not alone. It wasn't exciting for most people, but I giggle every time I remember how he proposed to me without ring.:wub:

We knew each other for 2 years before we decided to get married.

We met in Oct 2006. Started talking about getting married pretty early (4 months) and kind of growing into the subject. We sent our petition on April, and he officially proposed at the end of June.

It was very romantic. We went out to dinner with close family and his best friend (he traveled with Justin for the occasion), got down on one knee and had tears running down his face

He got the ring

Saludos,

Caro

We knew each other for 4.5 years.

It was very romantic, he asked me on the beach at night. Might sound cliche but the speech wasn't.

He bought the ring.. beautiful.

 It was so beautiful! I am not the type of person that gets all teary eyed form special occasions, I just smile and enjoy it but no tears lol... I had no idea he was going to propose because i knew how broke we both were, and I got no hints from him! He knows i am really good at figuring out whats going on. anyways for 6 months he kept the ring hidden, and the plans a secret, and during my last visit in aug 08 we went back to the beautiful restaurant where we had our "official-romantic-first-date" in 06. When we got there (it's on top of a mountain) He tried to get me out of the car so that he could sneak the ring box in his pocket by telling me to go in while he locks everything up, i said ok... Then by a struck of luck we got the very same table from 2 years ago! they dont have strong lighting, it was all candles and stars (great view of the city also)...

We ordered our food and he ordered WINE yikes! i should have known, since he is not a drinker... Then it happened , it pays to be romantic from time to time because he told so many beautiful things and i never thought it was all leading to a proposal until he leaned closer and reached in his pocket! omg I lost track of everything! i was crying, couldnt breathe, he asked in spanish (more romantic according to him), and in english ( to show off for me jiji), I was so overwhelmed i forgot to say yes, and my poor baby was there waiting for the longest time getting worried lol... and just like lorriq I will forever have a stupid smile on my face

this is my first (and last) long distance relationship, and he sure feels closer than people standing next to me...

About 7 months after getting to know each other and after a 4 month long distance relationship he proposed. We had been walking around the city, I was sweaty and looked like #######, and on our way home we stopped to mass. We were hearing the mass and during the moment that they were just playing music, he asked me would you marry me. I just thought he was joking since he would always ask and I would say yesand because I was not even looking at him. Then he asked again, and slipped the ring on!!! Oh my god, i could not even beleive it!! I looked at him and smiled with tears in my eyes and said YESSS!!!! It was the perfect place, because Church is really important to me.....

My SO proposed on Jan 2, 2009 all I can say is it was a total surprise and I am a really hard person to surprise because I am very nosy. I was on the phone trying to tell my SO this story about a friend and he kept interrupting my story! I was starting to get irritated because he kept saying when are we going to do that? (the story was about some married friends.) I just kept telling the story not really paying attention. Then I started to LISTEN to what he was saying and I was like "well i don't have a problem with getting married but that is not the way you should ask me!" He was like I know I just want to know how you feel about it I will ask properly. So my response to that was "when you ask properly you will get a proper response." He asked properly and that is when I said YES. Then I thought "he is just joking" so I said "Do you want me to give you time to think about what you just said?" and he was like No, I have been thinking about it for a very long time now so when are we getting married? LOL I just blurted out JULY. That is our story... :D

My husband and I came to a mutual agreement. We talked both wanted to be with each the other forever and decided to get married after two years. However, we mentioned marriage after a few months, but it was like "in the future".

He bought our rings.
