Packet 3 says that both Petitioner and Beneficiary should submit a certified copy of all marriage certificates. If either Petitioner and Beneficiary was previously married, please provide proof of termination of that marriage.

Originally I thought that since I am divorced that I only need to provide a copy of my divorce decree instead of my my marriage certificate (since that marriage is superseded by the divorce). But does this mean that I need to provide the marriage certificate for my previous marriage as well?

Yes, I had to. took 3 weeks to get it from the state I was married in Alaska and I live in Oregon now, I downloaded form requested and overnighted to them and send them a prepaid overnight envelope to send back to me, had it authenicated by the secretary of state of alaska also.

So the consulate sent you back to get that document?

This is why I say none of this makes sense.

In my case ( K 3 ) I was not asked to suppy a marrige cert from my first marriage. Why would they want that when we have our divorce papers? Who keeps that document anyway?

However things may have changed because I see this guy says they made him do it.

They're just covering the bases. Marriage certificates tend to document name changes for women. So, a woman who has changed names due to marriage, should provide previous marriage certificates.

So--since I am male--in your opinion we don't need to provide the marriage certificate?

Yes, that's my opinion. I've seen no evidence or reports any Consulate denying a visa because a male failed to provide a marriage certificate to go along with a divorce certificate for the same marriage. Females, yes.

I am not a male and did not supply the marriage cert.- only the divorce decree (had to pull that sucker outta the frame, ha!) but the k-1 was approved on this end WITHOUT the marriage certificate. Wonder if it has something to do with petitioner/beneficiary?

But... based on your post in the other thread, you have not had your consulate interview yet... THAT is where they request the marriage document.

This may or may not be an issue for LorriQ but if it is, it will be later, at the interview and then only if the name change trail is not otherwise documented. If my former spouse had supplied the same divorce decrees, I supplied, her name change would have been clear from the decree. This is mostly a belt and suspenders issue.

hmmmm - My attorney ( nuf said in previous posts on that issue!) said everything I gave her was all that was needed - but just to cma I'll dig for the certificates and send them over to him. He is going thru the interview, (IF they ever schedule the darn thing!) not I, does that make a difference?
