Hi there,

I have been going through this forum as well as immigration-related sites but to no avail...regarding questions I have for my case.

I'm an American, and my husband is Syrian. Since we love Turkey, we got married in Ankara last year...and now I'm wondering if this is going to affect our case. We also went to Turkey & Jordan together on vacation this year and now he's back in Syria while I'm in NY. My questions are as follows...I really hope someone can help me:

1) Considering the fact that we married in Turkey, is it a probability or a fact that he will have the interview for the visa (being what it may, I am still unsure about which is the better route- the K-3 or CR-1/IR-1?) in Ankara? Or would it be a better route to try to ask them to send it to Damascus instead? Is Damascus or Ankara the better embassy to go to for the interview?

2) Can I send the I-130 to Ankara (or Damascus) directly instead of going through the Vermont Service Center?

3) What can I do to ensure that my case won't be held up for silly reasons? My husband has travelled to Europe & Russia in the past few years backpacking with friends and I am worried that this will be a problem down the road.

4) Does the congressman/senator route really work?

5) Is there a process that I can learn of that will minimize the time that we need to wait for everything? I'm kinda lost...

6) My husband is not an Arab and we are borderline atheists...I write this because I am trying to be realistic regarding the stigma there is out there regarding Arab Muslim men. Is there a reason for me to believe that this might help facilitate the background check that he will go through? Or am I being too optimistic?

Thanks again,

Kat
