I use Firefox primarily, the tabbed browsing (which Microsoft has no doubt stolen for IE7) makes surfing much tidier than having a dozen IE windows open all the time.

Still, I still keep IE, as some sites still don't work properly under Firefox, which I think was developed from a previous version of Netscape. Netscape used to be a lot less forgiving about bad coding than IE, so you might still find you have to use it from time to time.

Still I wouldn't touch any Microsoft Beta product with a bargepole - after all the security issues they have with the current one!?

As a matter of routine, I use Firefox - though I must say it has some annoying quirks. But in general, I prefer it to IE.

I did test out the IE7 beta for a while, and I actually thought it looked OK in principle, if a bit rough. Then it f***ed up my MS Flight Simulator, and that is something I will not tolerate

wow. that's amazing incompetence on MS's part if ie can bork flight sim.

I have the new IE on my computer at home. I hardly ever use it though. When I did download it I got lots of ####### along with it. I had little half dressed women popping up down in the corner of my screen. Javier thought it was pretty interesting but I didn't like it at all. I'm almost sure it came from IE because I hadn't had any problems up until the point I started downloading the IE7. Then they just popped up there and started doing their thing. It was quite shocking the first time one popped up there. I uninstalled the naked dancing ladies and have used it several times, but in general, just like firefox better.

yeah... and just imagine that if someone installed that software without your knowledge or permission, what other kinds of software they can install on your PC through ie - one that steals your passwords... one that lets people hack your bank accounts... don't we just love microsoft? ;)

The weirdest thing... after reading this today I was looking at another website and it had a link that said the site was best viewed with Firefox and a link to download it, so I did.. it's really cool... i like that I can change the way it looks :luv:

That really just made me sound simple :P

that's great that you're trying it out. :) you mean that you're installing themes or that you've found out to rearrange the toolbars? when you get a little more comfy with firefox, you should check out the extensions. there are some fun things in there. :) welcome to the real web! ;)

yeah... it's awesome having a dozen tabs sorted into each of 3 or 4 different windows so you can keep everything organized. however, keep in mind that this wasn't new in firefox either ;) opera had tabbed browsing for quite a while. i'm not sure if opera had chased this from someone else.

indeed there are unfortunately some sites that are still ie-only... they don't need to be. it's just poor design or pages that haven't been updated in years... like the USCIS login page that says that you need to upgrade to navigator 4.79? other than netscape's ftp (which most people won't how to get to it) how are you supposed to find that? i don't follow netscape as closely, but last i knew they were hovering around version 8. it's unfortunate that some webmasters still "require" a substandard browsing experience just to make their sites work. needless to say... i don't miss them ;) My favorite was when the US government's computer emergency response team (CERT), put out a special warning to web users telling them to use ANY browser except for ie. I thought I was dreaming when I read that.:thumbs: ttyl,
