Hoo-boy, I really am a monster then. Not only did I mess with people's LIVES!!! but I messed with poor people's LIVES!!! There is a special, pompous!!! place reserved in hell for people like me.

Well as long as I am going to hell for this, I might as well go to the store, buy about 5 cans of food, plant them on her desk while she's away, and time it so that I walk by her desk just as she arrives. Then I can say, loudly, "Say! Aren't those the cans of food I just put in the bin? You know, the poor people bin?!?! Some people can't afford creamed corn, dontchaknow!"

You so totally have to do that!!! OMG it would be hilarious!!

Agnes - the people you work for are total morons - they'll get what's coming to them. I can't believe people are that horrid. In other news I am fed up with Jeremy's family constantly sponging off of him... his aunt yesterday needed us to give her more money because she had overspent again. Now i know she doesn't have a lot of money but I think it might have something to do with the fact that she has three cats, two dogs and a guineapig all living in her trailer with her. She owns her trailer so is only paying site rent and after buying 22 cans of dog food, 15 cans of cat food and a bag of guineapig food, could barely afford to feed herself. Last week when we were in CO, she phoned Jeremy to ask if he could take her to the store (we live 40 miles from her) and when he told her that we were in CO as had been planned for weeks, she sent him a text message saying that he obviously didn't care about her!!! #######?! She also knew how much money she had going out and how much money she had in the bank but didn't bother to put it together...

Part of me wonders what will happen when we have kids? Do we have to pay off his 54 year old aunt for the rest of our lives?!? Where does it stop?! It drives me nuts... Sorry about the rant...

As for birthdays, I knew about three or four in my year at highschool but noone famous...

That sucks. Anyone who cannot support themselves because they are supporting animals needs to start offloading some animals. But first, she needs to stop feeding them freaking CANNED food, that costs 3-5 times more per serving than dry dog and cat food. But I know, people are freakish when it comes to their pets and you can't tell them a damned thing.

Your question is probably rhetorical, but the clear answer is: she's family, and it's ok to help her. But eventually she needs to take charge of her life and learn how to balance her finances. A heart-felt explanation followed (if necessary) by some tough love may be the answer.

Speaking of dogs...here's mine to cheer you all up! :)

Aly, go with your plans to move far away! I think people like that... well, I'm actually of the opinion that you have no obligation to help her, family or not. People like that expect the help b/c they know they will get it. She will continue to take advantage of your help until you say no. She's an adult; she should be able to take responsibility for herself.

My MIL is still driving me crazy. *sigh*

EXCLUSIVE FOLLOW-UP STORY!!!!

"Beest lady" saw me in the hall today, walked over to me (I was nervously looking for emergency exits, thinking like "WHAT?!?! HOLY GUMBY ON A STICK WHAT DID I DO NOW, PEE ON URINAL CAKES FOR THE CRIPPLED?!?!"), and she apologized! She said she was having a bad day, and yes she realized I had mistaken the barrel for a trash, and she was wrong for being so "snippy" (does anyone actually say "snippy?!") with me.

So I hit her in the face with a can of creamed corn. Not really. I told her it was cool, we all have bad days, blah blah and now we are bff yay.

And then the crippled guy came out of the bathroom and screamed "WHO PEED ON THE CHARITY CAKES IN THE URINAL-SHAPED DROP BOXES?!" and we laughed.

I have awesome news: After 7 days of relentless efforts to try to remember either my emailpassword for my trash-emailaccount OR my VJ username AND password, I FINALLY HIT THE RIGHT COMBINATION OF USERNAME AND PASSWORD!!!! and I directly changed the emailaddress, so you guys won't have to suffer without me anymore :)

oh, aly, I'm so sorry that this stuff continues to happen!!!

You will have to but your foot down, especially whenever you will have a job soon. she will probably argue that you guys will be so loaded with 2 incomes :/ and that she deserves your help. Maybe you guys could try to set a specific amount of money aside each year for family-emergency-money, and whenever christmas and thanksgiving and birthday presents would be due, you could tell them that you wanted to get them a present, but that the budget was already used for helping them out.

urinal cookies. yummi.

Oh, my interview yesterday went REALLY well, they want to call me next week.......

Congrats, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :)

Am I the only one or is it a common thing that applying and interviewing for jobs makes me feel so much more like a foreigner and insecure.

Back home I am so confident about those things, but here....... is it a language thing?

Congrats and good luck, Agnes! :star:

I know what you mean about applying for jobs -- I always felt painfully American when I went for a job interview in the UK. Sometimes it worked to my advantage but often I just felt hopelessly awkward and paranoid that I would somehow say something incredibly stupid. But you'll do just fine, I know it!
