oh, on another note: we have a HUGE victorian-church-style kitchen window. and a bird crashed into it. window is still alive, but we have BIRDGUTS, BIRDPOO and feathers all over the window and you can see where the poor thing slid off the window. the dead bird was already eaten by another animal by the time we got home. there is NO WAY that it survived this....

oh man, that exact same thing happened here a couple of months ago

fewer traces on the window - mainly just the tragic outline of feathers and beak - but a dead bird that got carted away and devoured in some other part of the garden... feathers EVERYWHERE... eugh

I'm here! I'm here! Jeremy had Monday/Tuesday off this week instead of Sunday/Monday and we've been running around like maniacs buying Christmas decs and a tree and things Have also got some bookshelves now so emptied some more UK boxes and just have a few left now - not sure where to stick them for the moment but it's nice that the place is looking a bit more like a home now.

i just got fired.

they accuse me of spreading confidential information. which is so not true.

i feel devastated.

Oh hun - that is dreadful *mahoosive hugs* It seems here that any excuse can be used to fire someone - in the UK you could dispute it and there has to be proof of gross negligence or gross misconduct if they outright fire you. Otherwise they have to progress through the proper protocols - verbal/written warnings, suspensions etc... It's prolly just budget cuts and they picked something they thought they could get away with from their list of excuses GREAT news that you can stay in Germany longer though - I know Eric was meant to be out there longer than you and I always figured that would be horrible for you so yippee!! Ok so you have the whole job hunt thing going on again but...

Maybe if we are both still looking for work when you get back we can take a trip out to see you in the new year in Tucson What dates are you in Germany?

Natasha sympathizes with missing stuff from home, though she does say that Omaha feels like 'home' to her now. As for not being able to walk places here in the USA - I too miss that about visiting Russia. Everything here is just so spread out, and with (usually, anyway) poor public transportation. Curse our car-culture!

Hey Kevin!! Great to see you again! How is the little'un settling in and getting on with her English? How has her math been? I know that she is quite bright in that area and was worried that she would be put back because of her English skills... Glad to hear that Natasha is feeling at home there as well I am feeling a bit more at home here now as well although I am looking forward to getting into our own place so we can decorate and have a bit more space not to mention experience the four seasons again!!! I almost forgot my brother's birthday because it just doesn't feel like December!

We had a pigeon fly into our window and break its neck when I was in the UK. I also had an imprint of an owl on my window - it was beautiful - you could see all the feather markings and the beak and everything - no sign of the bird though so it must have been ok... I tried to take a picture but it didn't really come out

Hahaha!! Well there wasn't *too* much to catch up on!! I just feel all over the place at the moment - 'cause I was poorly last week I was in bed for two days and I have finally ventured out to the land of the living and it is really disorientating!!!

Well, I am glad you are back and up and at 'em, Aly! I think a desert Christmas would be very interesting! I'd have to get a large cactus and decorate it! And I don't think your fresh tree will grow any more, unless it's potted!! I've always had a fresh tree and they only ever dry out and drop the needles all over the place! You'll be sweeping and hoovering them up until late August!
