Hi All

I am a K1 getting married next week and thinking about AOS. The forms ask for the Alien Registration number (A#).

Question - Should the A # have 7 or 8 digits in it?

I ask because I noticed that I have three different versions of this number in different places - one with 7 and two with 8, and I am trying to work out what to write on my AOS papers.

1 - Handwritten in my passport it have 7 digits (starting A 88..)

2 - On my visa it has 8 digits (starting A388...)

3 - On the NOA2 it has 8 digits (starting A088...)

Has anyone else noticed this? Are those extra first numbers just fillers? Could the "3" on the visa # be a typo where they meant to press SHIFT3 which is #?

I think I'm going to skip the first number and put the seven digits that are consistent in all of them? Any advice?

Oh b*gger. I mean 8 or 9. Sorry - I can't count.

I see from other chats that it is common to see the 0 come and go from in front of the 8 digit number. But has anyone seen an A3xxxxxxxx before?

I guess I'll just drop it and put the A eight digits down....

The "A#" is the "A#" and you should never 'drop' a number (not even the 0).

The Alien Registration Number has 9 numbers. Your had a k-1 visa right...the a# has nothin to do with ur fiance visa. If you dont have one, you write N/A on the form. For example i came on a student visa F-1 and when i finished my studies, i got an EAD (without the fingerprinting), jus to work for a year and they assigned me an A#.. I applied to change my status and file AOS because i got married to a USC, they assigned me a new A#.
