You don't have to wait to have everything "done" before you send in the list...you have to have everything done before you go for your interview! Aslo, we didn't get our interview letter unti lthe day before the interview(!) abd just brought the over notices to the Dr. and had no problem getting the physical done (it's amazing what cash in hand can do..!)

Okay. So I got package 3 in the mail and I sent in step 1 (DS 230 AND I-156 or whatever) on November 5th. I'm on step 2 and working on the checklist. I have everything done but the physical as I'm waiting to get some of vaccinations done. To do the physical (I'll be going to Dr. Seiden in Toronto) I have to bring them a letter of approval. Is that the NOA 1 and 2 from the initial petition that my fiance did? Or will they send me another letter of approval in response to step 1 of the package (the DS 230 and I-156 or whatever)????

Please help. I'm going to visit my fiance (he's in Indiana) for Christmas so I wanted to get this all sent in before I go so while I'm gone I can pass some of the waiting period with him in Indy.

Thanks in advance,

Marina.

The letter needed by the doctor's office is a letter from NVC indicating your interview date.

See the link below and I believe trailmix has attached a most recent K1 interview letter. I believe that is the letter needed to be brought to the interview.

Thank you but when do I get that letter of approval. I can't send in the checklist until I've done the medical exam.. do I get the letter of approval in response to step 1 of packet 3? or .. ?????

when i called there last week they told me i could get an appointment in a week .. but i need my vaccination records so have to wait now for another week for blood test results but hope my answer helps ya

Thanks RYCK. I'm working on my vaccinations now so I'm hoping to make an appointment for early dec. once all my vacc's are done. i also had to get blood work done just this past tuesday so hopefully this will move quickly :)

I've never heard of anyone getting their blood work done by their family doctor and not being referred by the Civil Surgeon. You might want to check on that, or bring the results of that blood work to the medical, in case they require you to either take it over again, or so that they can enter that information on the forms, and include it in your package.

I kind of did it the opposite way. I just sent back my checklist without my medical yet. I know I can get a medical done within week or so and I figure I'll get an interview in March so I have time. I'm going for a tetanus shot next week and then I plan to book my medical with my case number. The list item just says "arrange for a medical" so I'm pretty much doing that by getting the last of my vaccines and then booking something.

I think a lot of people did this. Send back the form, as long as you know you have to still do it, don't let yourself get held up in getting that checklist back to them so that you can have an interview booked. I'm sure it says, you have had it done, or are going to have it done, but either way, you can have the medical after and even book it after you send the checklist back. Sapphire Dreams did it as many of us have done it.

I'm SO glad the DS160 is over with though. I timed out THREE times before I could actually complete the online form!!

My family doctor had me go to a lab to get my blood work done and it was to check if I had anti bodies toward chicken pox and hep a + b. he didnt want to give me shots i didnt need.

That does bring me to another question though, I was worried about not having my medical done before i sent in the checklist .. is that really okay? you just need to have it done by the time you do your interview? I'm leaving to see my fiance for christmas but i won't be able to get all my vaccinations done by the time i leave, thus, i wont be able to do the medical before i leave. i was sort of scared about leaving, then coming back, then doing the medical, THEN starting the wait time for the interview date. helpppppp.

Yeah you don't need to have your medical before packet 3, just before the interview.

Also, you most likely don't need hep b - its only for people ages 18 and under. You also don't need hep a at all. There is no requirement. The panel physician will also just take a verbal verification that you've had the chicken pox, so you don't need to prove that either if you've had chicken pox before.

The only shots you need to have/update would be your tetanus and then Gardisil if you are 26 or under.
