Okay. So I got package 3 in the mail and I sent in step 1 (DS 230 AND I-156 or whatever) on November 5th. I'm on step 2 and working on the checklist. I have everything done but the physical as I'm waiting to get some of vaccinations done. To do the physical (I'll be going to Dr. Seiden in Toronto) I have to bring them a letter of approval. Is that the NOA 1 and 2 from the initial petition that my fiance did? Or will they send me another letter of approval in response to step 1 of the package (the DS 230 and I-156 or whatever)????

Please help. I'm going to visit my fiance (he's in Indiana) for Christmas so I wanted to get this all sent in before I go so while I'm gone I can pass some of the waiting period with him in Indy.

Thanks in advance,

Marina.

p.s. he's doing the affidavit of support and i read on here that people are filling out forms for co-sponsors.. when does that come into play?

The letter needed by the doctor's office is a letter from NVC indicating your interview date.

See the link below and I believe trailmix has attached a most recent K1 interview letter. I believe that is the letter needed to be brought to the interview.

A co-sponsor is needed when the USC does not meet the minimum poverty guidelines listed below. A co-sponsor basically is able to agree to be financially responsible in place of the petitioner.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1327.html

Who can be a joint sponsor, and when is a joint sponsor allowed?

If the visa petitioner's household income is not sufficient to meet the requirements of INA section 213A and 8 CFR section 213a, INA section 213A permits a joint sponsor to sign an affidavit of support, in addition to the affidavit of support signed by the visa petitioner. A joint sponsor is someone who is willing to accept legal responsibility for supporting your family member with you. A joint sponsor must meet all the same requirements as you, except the joint sponsor does not need to be related to the immigrant. The joint sponsor (or the joint sponsor and his or her household) must reach the 125 percent income requirement alone. You cannot combine your income with that of a joint sponsor to meet the income requirement.

See the link below and I believe trailmix has attached a most recent K1 interview letter. I believe that is the letter needed to be brought to the interview medical.

oops. fixed.

I kind of did it the opposite way. I just sent back my checklist without my medical yet. I know I can get a medical done within week or so and I figure I'll get an interview in March so I have time. I'm going for a tetanus shot next week and then I plan to book my medical with my case number. The list item just says "arrange for a medical" so I'm pretty much doing that by getting the last of my vaccines and then booking something.

I'm SO glad the DS160 is over with though. I timed out THREE times before I could actually complete the online form!!

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Biometrics - 9/14/11

I actually just took a photo of myself with my digital camera against a white wall and then cropped it on my computer in paint. They excepted the photo just fine. Might want to consider just doing that.

I've never heard of anyone getting their blood work done by their family doctor and not being referred by the Civil Surgeon. You might want to check on that, or bring the results of that blood work to the medical, in case they require you to either take it over again, or so that they can enter that information on the forms, and include it in your package.

I think a lot of people did this. Send back the form, as long as you know you have to still do it, don't let yourself get held up in getting that checklist back to them so that you can have an interview booked. I'm sure it says, you have had it done, or are going to have it done, but either way, you can have the medical after and even book it after you send the checklist back. Sapphire Dreams did it as many of us have done it.
