Appointment Letter questions?

So here's my question: how long does the appointment letter take for the beneficiary to receive?

Its been just short of 4 weeks since the date on the letter I (petitioner) have received, and my wife's heard nothing from the embassy yet.

I'm not too worried, as I scanned my letter and emailed it to her, and also sent her copies of the embassy specific interview information (interview instructions, medical) so we're taking the neccessary steps... just have the jitters, i guess...

Thanks

SantiJS

It depends on the embassy but in Colombia it's not rare for the beneficiary never to receive the letter. I also had mine handy just in case my husband didn't receive his.

Santijs,

I think its normal. I have my interview December 1st and my husband still hasnt received his package, and honestly I dont think he will receive it. So I just scanned all info I got and he has his medical on Tuesday. I would worry about it, as long as you have a copy it should be ok.

You can use the new case number assigned by the NVC and send an e-mail to the consulate in Uruguary. They usually process incoming files from the NVC within 4-6 weeks. The consulate sends the package to your spouse, but it is also ok for the spouse to go pick up the package in some consulates, not all.

Yeah, this is effectively what I did... terrible service though:

"Consular section only open Mon-Thurs from 12:00 to 1:30PM"... what a joke

I'm not completely freaked out if the letter doesn't come... but still shocked by the incompetence of the Embassy/Consulate.
