CENOMAR

Ok, is CENOMAR needed for IR1/CR1 visas, or is that only required for K1s? Certificate of No Marriage Record(CENOMAR) is simply what its name implies. It is a certification issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) stating that a person has not contracted marriage.

So, if we are married already, do we need a CENOMAR or not? Because now it woud show her as being married to me. And we have a Marriage Certificate for that.

You dont need CENOMAR. You need CENMAR ( Certificate of Marriage and Marriage index w/ CDLI both should be from NSO)

Yes you need to get a CENMAR. It is a requirement for all visas now. It takes awhile so I suggest you guys should apply for it now. In the CENMAR, it will reflect ALL marriages contracted in the past whether annulled or not. I still don't get the marriage index with CDLI though. I don't know what CDLI really means. But our lawyer said that CDLI is only used for those individuals who have gotten annulled, illegitimate children and those who have changed their last name to their father's last name and some late registrations. The CENMAR or marriage index should be up to date.

My wife had her interview Nov 13th. Her appointment letter stated she had all the required documents submitted. Based on reports on VJ I had her get the CENMAR anyway. She WAS asked for the CENMAR by the prescreener and thank goodness was able to produce it.

I am on K-3 visa. When I had my interview last Nov.3, the USEM still asked for my marriage index, some says it's CENOMAR. Actually, when I requested that from NSO, I put on the form CENOMAR. But they explained to me that the info that would appear in the document is already the details of my marriage. So, that was it, the document contained my marriage details. The USEM got it and I had no problem. Goodluck!

I had my interview yesterday, Nov 21, I have the CENMAR but the pre-screener and even the consul didn't ask for it, instead, the consul requested for NBI with AKA! (This was disgusting to me coz I just thought about this a day prior to my interview and I didn't have enough time to go to NBI and get it... I forgot that I supposed to get the NBI with AKA since I had the annotation on my BC...) Oh well, after the interview I rushed to the NBI and get it... On Monday, I will bring that document to the embassy--I got PINK SLIP and the white paper stating the document to be submitted...

I suggest get the CENOMAR/CENMAR and bring to your interview... it's better to be ready, you will save time :)

God bless us all...

Thank you all so much for your answers and for all the help. We feel much better now knowing what we need to get.

I know it really sucks to go through all of this, and get to the last process and find out you don't have one thing that they decide they want that day.

Again, thank you all.

Rick
