wanna get into a weight loss competition?

that worked really well for a bunch of guys at work. they each put in $100, a total of 11 guys. they all weighed in at the gym on the same day and the target was 10% of original body weight... there was a winner in a month, $1100.

I started smoking at 18. I stopped on my 40th birthday, back in July. I've been on Commit "Cigarette Candy" ever since. I quit for a week, but went back on the nicotine lozenges so I wouldn't go on a spree of mayhem and destruction. Mags wants me to start smoking again. Since I've stopped smoking, I've put on an ungodly amount of weight. The whole point of quitting was to get healthy. My lungs may be healthier, but I ain't.

I enjoy cycling, and it's much easier to ride a bike if you can breathe. However, it's also easier to ride a bicycle if you don't weigh as much as a Chevy Aveo. I'm kinda lost as to what to do. I've been more of a jerk than normal since quitting, I'm addicted to expensive nicotine lozenges, and I'll eat anything in the house that doesn't move.

Maybe I SHOULD start smoking again.....

Well, this is coming out of my azz, but I would think that smoking 5 cigarettes a day, and being able to ride a bike and stay within a healthy weight range is much better than not smoking, being an unhealthy weight and a miserable #######. :P

5 a day???? Yeah, right. If I smoke, I SMOKE. Pack and a half a day.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I'm thinking that a long bicycle ride will be somewhere in all this ...

wanna get into a weight loss competition? since I moved to Houston ... well I now have a closet full of nice clothes that no longer fit and my bicycle is about to file for a divorce ... charge is non-performance ....

Just get on Sam Houston Blvd and ride to Sam Houston Drive. Turn right. Then Turn left on Sam Houston Road. Take that to the end, then take a U-Turn onto Sam Houston Parkway....

That will build stamina, strength, and the ability to evade crazy Mexicans driving too fast and in the wrong lane.

it's the freakin illegals that worry me the most .... trying to steal my ride so they can smuggle others across the border ....

But aren't you willing to compromise a bit?

I smoke only in the evening - two or three maybe. I guess since I rarely smoke before 6 pm, it's easier to keep the tally down.

Even if you did one in the morning, one after lunch, one after dinner, and then two or three more at night? Or start with double that then wean down over time?

Not possible. I either smoke or I don't. Pack and a half a day IS cutting it down for me. I used to smoke 3 packs a day at one point. When I tried cutting it down below one pack per day, I was as miserable as I was not smoking.

I've been on those goddamn lozenges for about 2 years. Started with the mint ones, but since moved onto the cherry ones. If anything, I am more addicted to nicotine than I ever was before.

Now I smoke about 1/2 a pack a day, and use lozenges when I'm inside, or can't find the time for a smoke.

I unfortunately have increased my terrible smoking habit since 2 months...it sucks being alone and only have your cats to talk to. I do love my cats, but ...yeah. A smoke sometimes does the thing..but that's terrible. I gotta quit. Hope we can all quit! :)
