I beleive that they reccommend that you apply for a renewal of an EAD 90 days before the current EAD is due to expire. If I'm right about that then I'd assume that a renewal could take just as long as a regular EAD application.

However, I beleive that the advantage of renewing an EAD is that as long as you can show proof that you have applied for a renewal, that is considered proof of your eligibility to work so you are able to work while you wait for the renewed EAD to arrive.

I was wondering the same thing, we just got interim EAD, and it's good till 1/1/2007. I know I'm jumping the gun, but in case our EAD never gets approved and is lost in the shuffle, I wonder if we are eligable to apply for the renewal EAD?

I don't believe that you can renew an interim EAD. In 99% of cases I'd say its a pretty safe bet that before your interim runs out you'd have either the 12 month EAD or your AOS approved.

If you've just been issued the interim EAD then you've alwready had your EAD and AOS applications in the system for at least 3 months. Jan 2007 gives you another 7 months. If you haven't heard something about one of those applications in 10 months then I'd be VERY suprised !!
