Symbiotic Organisms, and Parasites are total opposites.

Intestinal Microfauna and flora are mostly symbiotes. A worm moving into your meningeal cavities isn't. ;)

I take a pro-biotic supplement daily....to keep a healthy number of flora. :)

little round pills?

Trader Joe's brand. They're oblong.

First, you must all submit your total will to the Ewok. Only then will he make the pain go away.

I find it interesting to see what happens when a worm goes into the brain. The brain has no pain sensory which all it interesting in itself. The only way for the worm to enter the brain is by breaking through the blood-brain barrier.

Buddy of mine just finished his thesis on how visual neurons mathematically encode their perception of the false motions you can see in the lines extending from the ewok in that siggy.

Unless it gets implanted there by mother alien worm. True story.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

How this worm grow inside her brain? Does she have rotten brain?

At the blood-brain barrier is the point where nutrients, and oxygen is transferred to the brain. However, once the worm reaches the brain its growth rate declines because not only nutrients flows across the blood-brain barrier but leucocytes (aka white blood cells). Worms are parasites that relies on the host for food, it will not kill off the host. Although, when it gets too big it will probably become a nuisance. The other organism that could possibly enter the brain is an Amoeba. These types of organisms will kill the host rapidly in response to the defense against the leucocytes. The Amoeba do not need the host to survive, therefore, it will kill off the host.

However, cases with the Amoeba is about less than 1000 cases. It occurs primarily in under-developed countries. So, in other words you should worry about the pig worms instead.

Always drink boiled or bottled water when going to more 'interesting' parts of the world and don't eat raw fruits or veg unless you have cut, peeled and washed it yourself in disinfected water. Take care to not drink from glassware that has just been washed in possibly contaminated water. Don't get water in your mouth when showering or washing your face. When going to a restaurant don;t always trust if they say it's 'filter water' - the filter might not get out all the nasties. Always insist on boiled or bottled water and check that the seal on the bottle is not tampered with. Even with these precautions, some bottled water is not safe. One night I was watching the news with Govi and there was a report that a brand of bottled water had insects(mosquitos) in it - so obviously there were bacteria in it as well. Sadly I had drunk that brand of water at lunch :o though the bottle was sealed and there were no critters inside - still I was horribly sick the next morning.

You don't want to f#$K with Amoeba though you are more likely to get Giardia when traveling - you can even get it when camping in the US. My sometimes dim brother got sick with Giardia in Nepal because he was brushing his teeth with tap water - always use bottled/boiled water.

The one parasite that really bothers me is the pinworm. Maybe it doesn't do a whole lot of harm to the host, but the idea that worms could travel outside your ####### to lay eggs is extremely disgusting.
