Just because 8% don't have work doesn't mean life sucks for the other 92%.

Not quite accurate. It does affect a larger percentage of Americans because that 8% doesn't have the income to spend and ...

Tell me, in your words, what is it you think I said.

I took your statement above to mean that 92% of Americans' lives don't suck.

Nope. That's not what I said.

my hubby's job is pretty secure, I think... hospitals always need supplies :P

hospitals do shut down though

1 near me is shutting down

with all the shootings there? i'd thought they'd have a booming business.

shootings? not many of those around here at all. the crime is on the rise around here but so far i've not heard of any involving guns. no one dead, either. not yet.

go closer to newark or trenton, different story. but not here.

my hubby works for a medical supply warehouse.....

I doubt that all the hospitals are going to shut down any time soon... :P

all of them dont need to shut down

just 1 of the hostpials that use his warehouse

I really don't think that would cause much of a dent in business..... lol.. a lot of the hospitals in the LA area use this medical supply warehouse.. and this company has warehouses all over the US,,,

and if they were going to fire people, he would be one of the last people to get fired :P.. all the shifts there fight over him, they all want him to work on their shift ..lol

You needed one more negative 'doesn't' in that sentence then. :jest:

No, my friend.

I hate semantics, but here goes.

I said:

Just because 8% don't have work doesn't mean life sucks for the other 92%.

What this means is I am claiming the following conditional statement to be FALSE:

if {8% don't have work} then {life sucks for the other 92%}

Note that the statement speaks to what is not, rather than what is.

Addendum: If you wished for me to speak to what is, then I would say:

if {8% don't have work} then {life sucks for a subset of the other 92%}

The point? That Len could very well find herself not part of that subset.
