UPDATE - from Nutty

After tax season ends, I am going to India for three months!!!

Love NUTTY (now the lost pilgrm)

Well, I hope you find yourself in India and are a little less nutty for it. ;)

Do you find work when you are in India or just live off your savings?

Well, that sucks! I can't believe they are that rude and are such arses! You probably did the right thing by putting your tail between your legs and running out of there! So I am assuming since you are going to India that things are still not good with hubby?

I'm sorry it turned out worse than the last position, nutty.

You are doing the right thing in leaving. You cant spend 8 hours a day stressed to the max and getting treated like sh*t. As long as you have another job lined up...good for you!

Good luck

Airfare ($1400) and "cost of living" for about 3 months is $2500.00. Clean and simple digs with cable television, food...

I cancelled all my old emails a while ago. Then when I shifted to a new computer at work, I couldn't log in. So recreated my profile.

"tail between your legs and running out of there..." Well, that's kind of rude.

Just so happens the temp job I am going to pays more. I would prefer to work for higher salary with nice people, than jerks and be paid less (especially if the workload aggravates my health).

Things with hubby are better. We had some good heart to heart talks.

Going to India has been on the backburner for a while. Getting this job was for the purposes of sponsoring my husband. Staying at it for the duration until he got a job. He has. He's doing very well now. Bought a truck even.

I've never "lived to work." Don't get me wrong, when I work, I do a good job, always apply my best efforts. But I also know how to step back and enjoy life. After 2 years of working, a couple of months backpacking in the Himalayas will be pure bliss and good for me.

That's my philosophy as well. I don't much care for the chained to your desk lifestyle. Wish I could join you. Europe was nice because of all the labor laws. Dubai is even worse than the US as far as stress, work hours, high prices and long commutes so I can't wait to get out of here. An employer pretty much owns you here. (We're so fed up we've decided to apply for jobs while we are away on our honeymoon.)

Glad things are better for you with the Hubby too. Have fun!

Pick me up a Kullu shawl when you are there, ok Didi? and say Hi to the parrots in Rewalsar for me - I miss them... ;)

People,

I just turned a promotion. I am currently a receptionist/admistrative assist. My supervisors wanted to promote me to "legal assistant." However, I was offered a 50 cent raise, a small closet-sized office with no windows, more work, and would have to take a class at the local community college for some legal training.

I already do the legal assistant position. But I work at great desk with views all around. I want less work, not more. I also think the 50 cent raise was being cheap.

So I turned down the position. Truthfully, I need less stress now, not more. And a new position would be more stress and work.

My husband is angry with me for not taking the position.

But given our marriage troubles, I don't see myself staying around past next August.

Did I do the right thing????

Of Course you did the RIGHT and CORRECT thing my dear....What the hell can .50 Cents do to you in todays economy where everything prices on everything seem to be going up except one's pay check..By the way I can tell your husband who is angry with you for not accepting the position is definitely living overseas right ? Don't blamed him ..only until he gets here then he will know and realized that even if the raise was $5 per hour, its still not worth a JACK

and Stress ...
