Hello guys!

hope everyone is well!

I'd like my sis to come over to visit me here, in the States, next year. She has a kid, job and appartment but i do realize thats its going to be tough to get her a visa.

Now, she asked around about it and was told (not officially of course) that even if my husband (USC) writes her an invitation letter, he'll need to state that im at the edge of a nervous break down and the only way to get over my pitiful state is to see a member of my family; and its the only way to get the damn visa.

Is this true????? Anyone has been through this???

Thanks in advance

Sasha

There is no requirement for an invitation letter, and most here seem to agree that it doesn't really help even if you have one. Your sister needs to fill out the correct paperwork and attend the interview, that's all. Unfortunately the government doesn't care what kind of mental state you are in. All they care is how likely she will be to return to Russia before her visa expires.

Hope that helps, ни пуха, ни пера.

Ditto what Mox posted.

Visitor must qualify on their own.

Main thing is they have a reason they HAVE to return to their home country and won't run and go illegal when thay get to the US a MANY have.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

It's actually very probable that she could get a visa now. I'm too lazy to retype everything, but if you check through some of the more recent threads here in the Russia Forum, it details what you need to do. Mom visa, sister visa, etc. It's in there somewhere.

Just last week, my wife's parents, sister, and nephew all were granted visitor visas. Parents for 2 years, sis & nephew for 1 year. Like you Sashagrin, sister is also divorced but has a good job and a flat (age 33). They all completed the interview in Moscow together. Her sister was asked a little about her job, but that was about it. She of course did have a letter from her ex that it was ok for the nephew to travel here. I did do an invitation letter, but it was pretty generic. My wife organized their files very nicely from what is instructed on the embassy site. Also - her parents were told that after their 2 yr visa expires, they can re-apply by mail with no interview needed which will be very nice. PM me if you need any help with it, and I can put you in touch with my wife for any assistance.

MY MOM GOT VISA FOR 2 YEARS LAST WEEK!ITS NOT AS HARD,YOU CAN JUST WRITE THAT HUSBAND HAS TO WORK AND YOU CAN NOT GO BACK HOME TO VISIT FAMILY DUE TO ECONOMY AND HAVING NO GREEN CARD YET,IF YOU DONT...

Congrats on your mom's visa! Thank you for your input - it goes directly to my lil Tip box )

the thing is, most of the cases i read about are about MOMS or PARENTS and siblings getting visa, im afraid getting a visa just for my sis will be a different story. Oh well, we'll see, as i said its not going to happen until somewhere next year...

xoxo
