In August when I visited my boyfriend in the US it became the 38th country that I have visited. (darn ... I loved being able to say I have been to 37 countries but not the US. And then I went and fell in love with an american! )

I imagine most people here have been to at least 2 countries (or will have been to 2 countries once they make it to the US) but I am curious how many more.

Personally I only count a country if I have been outside the airport. But I know a lot of people count it if they had to change planes there ... I dont really care either way.

Lived in US and Spain. Visited: Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Bolivia, Peru, and Canada. I've changed planes in London and Paris but never left airports so I don't count them. I don't even think I was old enough to remember Paris....

I think we went to Portugal when I lived in Spain, but again, I was far too young to remember. I was 9 months old when we moved there and just under (maybe over) 4 when we returned Stateside.

There are so many more countries I'd like to visit before I die. Australia and New Zealand are on the top of my list!

Three of the countries I have visited obviously are India, Canada and US.

Not sure whether to count the total as four or five, due to having made a one-week visit to UK (airtrip Atlanta-Gatwick, bus-and-ferry trip from London to Isle of Mull)--Brit opinion on this please.

Not counting the UK I have visited the US, Canada, Rep of Ireland, France, Germany (lived there), Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Malta, Czech Republic, Qatar and Bahrain.

I suppose I could put Wales and N. Ireland as technically they are countries within the UK. I need to change my vote!

I would say that counts as visiting the UK! Or to be more specific England and Scotland.

Oops, I forgot two more, where "city-tours" were taken during long layovers:

  • Japan (1971) -- 24-hour layover between arrival in Tokyo from Mumbai (Air-India) and departure to Vancouver (JAL)
  • Singapore (1990) -- 18-hour layover between arrival from Chennai and departure to Vancouver (both flights on Singapore Airlines)

Which changes the correct category from (chosen) "1-5" to "5-10".
