I'm very strong in naming our son Ben. It has always been my choice for a baby boy. Charles doesn't like it because he says the child will be teased at school. I think that all children are teased in school for some reason. They'll either be teased about their name, race, the fact they're too rich, or too poor, or have divorced parents, or have gay parents, or their ear, nose, mouth is too big, their hair is curly, or straight, etc. What do you think?

Btw, the name will be Benjamin, we'll just call and have everybody calling him Ben.

I don't think your baby will be teased if he is called Ben but I do think you need to give your baby a name you both like, not just one of you.

It's a great name.:yes: ...and I agree - all kids get teased for one reason or another. I used to think it was bad for a child to be teased in school but now I think it's more a rite of passage, so long as the teasing isn't overwhelming to the child. Kid's have to grow a thick enough skin to not let it bring them down.

It's a beautiful name. When I was pregnant, I thought about calling my boy Ben, but we already had a Ben in the family. Actually I had 3 names for the baby boy, Matthew, Bernard and Theo. It had to be a name that would go well with the surname and that would sound good in English and Portuguese. My ex-husband and I decided to wait until the baby was born to see which name would match his face.

He was a Theo, for sure!

Benjamin - love that name. God bless Ben! :energy:

I was named Benika, but my family still call me Ben all the time (despite the fact that I am female). When I was small I thought Ben was a girl name and was totally shocked to meet a boy named Ben. At this point I decided that all names are interchangeable and had a girl doll named Tom for the longest time. How I love my family for remembering these things and reminding me about it all the time. <_<

and nope - I was not teased for being called Ben, I was tease for being chubby and shy.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
