One way ticket or Round Trip?

Call me anxious but I'm shopping tickets online right now from the US to Cairo six months in advance. Tickets for round trip from BOI to CAI in MAY through next summer range $2300-$3000. I don't know when we will be coming back from Cairo. It depends on when he gets his visa and as most of you know AP in Cairo is a ####### shoot. It could be 2 weeks to several years. But the stories from Cairo are no where near as bad as some stories I've read from Casablanca.

Anyways we hope that the interview and AP process go quick! I was looking at one way tickets and they range from $800-$1200 right now. I was hoping that when he gets the visa and we're ready to go that was could fly back together so he didn't have to travel international alone for the first time. Plus I've got no where to be but with him after Graduation...

What would you do? Buy a one way ticket or a round trip? My friends and family are saying round trip open ended which is so expensive but it's so I always have a way back and can change the date.

B)

I like Len's idea about getting a sale through Europe. Then again, I've never flown to Cairo. But then there's that visitor's visa thingie that Tmrntx mentioned.

So yeah, never mind, my advice is useless :P

It's a 14 hour drive to LAX. and ticket prices are just the same if I fly out of Boise.

I get the Europe sales and when I pop over there I might just do that. Mom was saying the same thing.

Thx TX! I knew there was a reason for that. I'm going to apply through the Egyptian Embassy in Washington for an extended stay visa. I have to show proof of an HIV test to stay longer than 6 months and be an actual resident. Might as well get it now to be the first through the passport control in Cairo to claim my bags!

Ha! Why yes Charles it is!

Your visa may require a round trip ticket, but if it doesn't I would go with the one way and get another one when I'm ready to come back. Then you don't have to worry about spending so much, your ticket expiring, etc.

Also, have you asked hubby to check in Egypt for a ticket for you? Sometimes buying them here in KSA for my family in the USA is cheaper. Also, I don't know where you are looking, but I'm a big fan of travelocity. We've used them alot too.

Good luck to you:)

Yeah, what she said! Just make sure to save that cash of the cost of the return ticket in case of emergency. :innocent:
