Hello,

I have filed I 130 form for my father who is in India now. How long will it take to get approval letter from California service center? I filed in first week of June still didn't get any response. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks.

USCIS Guide

You need the I-130 (check the Instructions Page(s)) for specific things needed for parents.

I am in the same situation here. I filed for my father in September 2008. I received the first letter a week after i mailed the petition and I am impatiently waiting for the next one which I believe is the approval letter.

I am in the same situation, also. My daughter applied on July 15, 2008, she received the receipt after fifteen days. On November 18 it received a letter of USCIS saying that the case had been transferred to California. We are awaiting. :whistle:

I filled for my father and 5 months after he got approved from California Service Center but the long battle was with the National Visa Center. In a month my father will be one year since he was approved. They ask for the requirements every month that makes the wait even longer. Good Luck to all of us.

Nothing is happening until she is a USC... For a LPR to bring parents\brothers\sisters is not possible...

When a USC, then parents are immediately available

Brothers and sisters are family preference category 4

For the PI, Family preference category 4 is currently 22+ years

FAMILY-SPONSORED PREFERENCES

First: Unmarried Sons and Daughters of Citizens: 23,400 plus any numbers not required for fourth preference.

Second: Spouses and Children, and Unmarried Sons and Daughters of Permanent

Residents: 114,200, plus the number (if any) by which the worldwide family preference level exceeds 226,000, and any unused first preference numbers:

A. Spouses and Children: 77% of the overall second preference limitation, of which 75% are exempt from the per-country limit;

B. Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 years of age or older): 23% of the overall second preference limitation.

Third: Married Sons and Daughters of Citizens: 23,400, plus any numbers not required by first and second preferences.

Fourth: Brothers and Sisters of Adult Citizens: 65,000, plus any numbers not required by first three preferences.
