I have no idea why I'm stressing over such a ridiculous decision but well.. I am! :innocent:

Its time for a new phone. I've had my trusty simple Nokia 7360 I bought 2-1/2 YEARS ago in Italy and have loved it every minute. The battery is great, its easy to use, I love the calendar with reminders, and texting. But its time for a new one.

BUT... I was checking out the different Blackberry phones at T-Mobile and I was looking at the Curve and the Pearl. The Curve seems like its just a bigger version of the Pearl, making it easier to type and all that. I don't currently need it for email/web browsing...but I might sometime soon.

If I were to choose a Blackberry, which one is better? They're both the same price currently so that's not the issue. The size and keyboard is what I'm wondering about. Is the Curve too much phone? It seems quite big. But does it make things just much easier? If I don't need emails/webbrowsing currently should I not bother (even though I might in the next few months or so) ? Are Blackberries easy to figure out how to use?

Or there is the Nokia 6301. It seems like a newer updated version of what I have already. I wouldn't have to figure out how to use it as its set up almost the same as my current phone.

Or??

Well, to determine a phone that you actually use the feature daily and not account to a waste of money, summarize what you will be doing on the phone. And, what type of service you want.

My ubderstanding is that if you get a blackberry you have to pay for a more expensive package on a monthly basis....so if you won't really need the internet on a daily (or constant) basis, its probably too much phone, whether the Curve or the Pearl.

If I am not mistaken, have to get into bed with some kind of cellular phone company that want something a lot stiffer than a marriage contract, and heaven help you if you want a divorce before that normally two year contract is over.

Course there are prepaid phones, but in my neck of the woods, have to find a tall tower, climb it, to make a call, so we are forced to deal with the biggies.

I was outnumbered two to one for paying 25 bucks extra a month for text messaging, why can't you just leave a voice message? Well, I really don't want to talk to that person, don't have the time, but just want to send a short message. Okay, I guess, whatever. Also GPS, games, MP3's, can download videos, graphics, and ringtones, all at an extra price of course. People are getting killed or severely injured using text messaging, takes too much focus and not noticing they are walking to an edge of a cliff or across an interstate highway.

What about just making phone calls? And a phone where you don't have to read and memorized a 200 page manual just so you know how to turn it on? And even more importantly, turn the damned thing off so you can have some peace?

I totally share your love to Nokia!!! They are so easy, functional and long lasting! I wish US market had better variety of Nokia phones like Europe does. Anyway, my hubby has Blackberry Pearl for almost 2 years now. I think it is the best phone ever made. It is small, sleek, easy to use. You can download many more applications and make it very useful not only for calling and texting. Very useful additional gadgets my hubby has: GPS, weather, all his emails (including school one), messanger, I don't remeber what else but there is much more. The only bad thing I can say about that phone is sometimes it freezes but not very often.

Also, we were able to connect Blackberry to a laptop and get internet connection!!! Not very fast but good enpough. Might be very useful when you are on the road trip ;)

This is not true. You don't have to sign up for mobile internet, it is a preference. Although, why buy Blackberry if not using mobile internet???
