There is something so earthly, virile and fertile about Jamaica...there is never a true way to know if you can stop menses before a vacation there. So, I did what needed to be done. I went to my OB/GYN and told them to take everything...make a pool for his kids with the uterus and jump rope with my tubes...use the ovaries for punching bags...I was through with them anyway. Wah-la! No more worries about Aunt Flo! I can wear white the entire trip...alll year long if I so desire. I love it!

I loved it until A asked me to give him a son. He thinks if we keep trying really hard...who am I to argue with the man? I'm joking. He understands...but still...it hurts not to be able to give him his only son.

But did you have to avoid Aunt Flo or other reasons? Wow that was too funny the way you put it! Sorry you can't give him a son. I know how you feel. I had my tubes tied 5 years ago but Steve thinks the same that if he tries hard enough! I explained it to him and we may try to have them untied!

Yeah...he is cool. I'm the one that has regrets now. We have four between us...2 boys (mine) and 2 girls (his). But, I think every man wants a son to carry his name.

I am sharing this bit of information with some reservations, but please discuss this with your GYN if you wish to know more. This was a conversation I had with my GYN a long time ago, so I am only sharing it as informational.

I want to stop my period while I am on holiday

Can anything be prescribed by my GP to stop my period while I am on holiday for one week?Answer

Indeed you can. This is a commonly asked question and your GP will be aware of what to do.

There are two easy ways of doing this and the choice is partly a personal one, partly depends on the patient's state of health and partly on how long you have before your holiday.

• One method is to start taking the oral contraceptive pill, provided there are no reasons why you should not take it. You need to start at least one cycle before the one you want to miss. At the end of the first pack, instead of stopping and having a period, you just carry on and stop when you get back from holiday. You don't need to complete the second pack.

• Another method which can be used up to a week or ten days before the period that you want to postpone is due (but the earlier the better) is to take a progestogen such as Norethisterone. This needs to be taken three times a day continuously until after you return from holiday, and can then be stopped. A period usually follows about 48 hours later. This method can be used if for medical or other reasons the contraceptive pill is not suitable.

Go along and see your GP well before your leave, and enjoy your holiday

Thanks for the info Rox but I already had these manipulations in my stash of stuff but I have found that continuing the next back of birth control pills without a break only delayed me 5 days and it gave me a serious headache on top of I ended up with 2 cycles in one month. Everyone is different and it is worth a try if you are in a pinch! Also I believe you can use the progestian as a morning after pill also you would take 3 or 4 and throw the rest of them away...my gyn told me this after I was bad and didn't wait 6 weeks after having my daughter.

Kimmy I am going to try it again for my Feb trip but I don't know how it will work. Right now my body is confused because of the weight loss stuff and it is just doing whatever. Plus I gotta talk my doctor into giving me some because I have had my tubes tied so I don't want to hear no speeches from her about why I want the pills.
