"For being out of it like you say Marlita, you actually articulated this very eloquently and I've often felt the same. But I also see your point, Sus. Sometimes I think my own guilt may be a factor in knowing that I've found a wonderful JA man and even though he's poor, I'm taking him from a potential woman there. Of course, he's also been burned pretty bad by his baby momma so he kinda stayed away from JA women and they him since he doesn't have much money"

I don't understand.

I guess that wasn't very well stated and one may not have much to do with the other but mostly I guess sometimes I feel guilty about snatching up a good man from JA when a JA woman might be out looking for someone like him. However, the poor comment is that the way I understand it, many JA women won't have much to do with a poor man cause he can't buy them all the finer things that they'd like. I'm sure it's not the case all the time but I've been told it happens a lot. Now here is where you Jamaicans can correct me if I'm only being told half the story! :help:

Ells I'm not Jamaican...nor am I jumping on your post. However, we don't want a broke man in the States either. There are plenty of good men right here in our country that can't get a break because of his lack of a bank account. Why should it be different for a Jamaican woman with her Jamaican man? I see Jamaican women out working long hard hours six sometime seven days a week, and a shiftless...lazy azz Jamaican man wants to tell you that he can't get a woman because he doesn't have any money. What do we foreign women do? Sop him up with a biscuit...let him sex us...then pay him for doing it all for the sake of "love".

A lazy broke man will not get a chance in hell with me, no matter where he comes from. Let a man come at me about he doesn't rate a Ja woman because he doesn't have enough money...pure bull. A Jamaican woman will stand by her "broke HARDWORKING DECENT JAMAICAN man like he is the King of Eygpt. If you believe your man can't get some Ja. pum-pum just because he is broke...I have some land to sell in the Florida Everglades.

We (I say we because again I'm not Jamaican) need to stop letting sorry azz men piss in our faces and call it rain. Why because he has an accent and he is from a third world country.

Its true that not everyone is cut out for certain careers. When I was young I always wanted to be a pediatrician (my reason was because I love kids) My first year of college I shadowed a doctor at the local hospital. They were doing a routine procedure with the patient and as I watched the nurse start drawing blood I ran for the nearest bathroom.

I'm a teacher now :star:

What was your dream career as a child or even in high school/college? Is it what you do now?

I wanted to be a lawyer or an accountant. I'm an accountant/auditor now..but I would love to go to Law School. It's just too dang expensive.

I think this is it. I hope I copied it the right way

TANKS...

Claire, can I ask you something, why did you become a nurse? Mi a get a mad vibe fram u...fram lang time

Yuh mean to tell me say the vibe yuh a get is dat me mad???? :bonk:

From the time I was growing up I always loved taking care of people. I am always the go to person, so I think it came naturally. I love the feeling I get at the end of the day when I know that I have made a difference in someone's life no matter how tired and worn out I feel. When the families tell you how they appreciate you taking care of their loved ones. I took care of a 36 yo woman who had a hysterectomy and ended up with a perforated bowel and had to have extensive surgery and a colostomy. I took care of her and we kinda bonded and she went up to the floor got ill and was transferred back to the ICU and I was assigned to her again. I worked very hard with her and made an extra effort and when she wanted to give up I pushed her real hard. She had many complications but we all worked hard with her and she was eventually sent home. A couple of weeks ago I was at lunch and here she came looking for me and did not find me on the unit and was told I was at lunch. she came to the cafeteria looking for me. She gave me an angel and told everyone that was there that I was her angel and if it was not for me she did not think she would have survived. She talked about the other nurses but remarked that I was special to her. we all just busted out bawling in the cafeteria. That really made my day and I was walking around on clouds for the rest of the day. I hope this inspires you but let me remind you, it is hard work and there are going to be days when you just want to quit out of fraustration and encounter some very ungrateful people, but it is all worth it in the end.

Ask Morant, she should know also. I love what I do and I could be making mad money if I was still in NY but the madness of NY is not worth the big bucks.

But KISS ME NECK!...di ooman write one ole book. I asked because I get a nuturing vibe fram you. My grannie say not everyone is made out be a nurse. I love taking care of people and I love the response I get. I wish I had stuck it out when I started in 1987. Always wanted to be an L&D nurse or NICU...okay, I'm going to cry now (fram your inspiring story)....so, I was right, but u still a madooman.

You asked me a question about something that I am passionate about and I could not give you a one word or one sentence answer. But me lub yuh same way cause yuh mad like me...lol

Marie, I used to live up that way and I can tell you that on a normal day it would take like 30-45 minutes, especially with the mess that was going on at the Springfield Interchange...I can only imagine what it's going to be like with all that extra inauguration traffic! That's precisely why I ain't going. I want to, but can't deal with the headache of the crowds, etc. I used to be one of those people on the metro who absolutely hated to see a crowd of tourists coming...drove me nuts cuz it's crowded on a regular day...+ tourists who don't know how to get around on the metro and it's one LONG, MIGRAINE-INDUCING train ride :crying:

Lovesponge...I didn't get a chance to say hi earlier...so WAGWAN! Glad to see you here! Please be advised that these ladies can create an unsual amount of ruckous and laughter that might often cause you to bust a gut (or worse), so you must be very very careful. They can be a rowdy (but loveable (L) bunch!!

AND....they've got good info and insight to share...so don't be afraid to use it!

But sometimes when we share people get offended. Today Honey stormed outta here and said she was not coming back because of response she got to stuff she posted about her SO and his BM drama.

She's just chillin. She'll be back.

Congrats Jgay.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Thanks for the help with NYC and Happy Birthday Island!

momto2, where in WVa are you? My dad lives in Charleston and so does another VJ member Tonya.

Wow!! I havent heard that name in forever!! How is she doing?

I have not spoken to her but I know my dad is in contact with her hubby. When I ask him about them all he says is that things are not good but won't give me any details. He got a job doing exactly what he wanted. To drive a big truck for the mining company---something similar to what he did back home in Ja.

Okay you DC/MD/VA ladies, Springfield , Va is 30 mins away from DC, Fredericksburg, VA is 1 hours away on a no traffic day. Richmond, Va is 2.5 hours away, and Fredericksburg is 1 hour away from Richmond. You ladies must be driving down 95 doing 80 to 90 mph to get to Fredericksburg in 30 to 45 mins.

Well, Marie, it will be a total mess, also what hotel/motel are they staying at for $50 a night, because the other $50 must be for the bus.
