Hi. I filed my N-400 this month. It'll be dealt with by the Norfolk, VA office. Does anyone have any experience of how the Norfolk office operates when it comes to naturalization? I read that they have a huge backlog of unprocessed applications, and I am hoping that they are moving through them quickly.

Also does anyone know whether a same-day oath is possible in Norfolk? If not, where are oaths done and how long after the interview do people normally take the oath?

Thanks!

I filed on September and yesterday I received my appointment for the interview. It will be in January.

You filed in Sept 2008 and you've already received notice of your appointment? That sounds pretty quick!

After the interview, how long do you expect the process to take?

Thanks!

I imagine I will be approved the same day (my parents and my brother were approved the same day, although t was at a different office). It will probably take a month or two for the oath, which I hope takes place in Norfolk.

I see your application was sent to the National Benefits Center for processing. I just received notice that mine was sent there too. Will this make the process quicker?
