Hi everyone,

Just started the K1 process, and I have 2 unrelated questions:

1, Has anyone succcessfully used a cd or dvd to store emails, and or, XML chat logs, avoiding the consumption of reams of paper.

2, For the initial I-129f application does the document signed by the translator of a foreign language document, need to be notarised.

Thanks for your help

Jay

this does bring up a question that I have as well....

My fiance has put some "first meeting" videos on a cd and she will take that with her to the interview. Just curious if anyone else has done this and if the consulate will actually view them??

I could see how they would be very cautious about putting an unknown into any of their computers for fear of viruses.

dvd or cd would be way overkill in the amount of information that you are giving them, and they probably would not allow it, or could not read it. Give them a few good samples that span the duration of your relationship. I was very consise on this, but gave them convincing documents.

I don't know the answer to #2.

Good luck

What are you - NUTS! Way way way overkill. All you need to provide at this point is the proof of meeting like stamps in your passport, airline tickets, pictures of you two together in a drum going over Niagara falls etc. And even at the interview all you need to provide is some ongoing proof like emails or letters or chat records (again just show them a sample not your life history.) Remember KISS - Keep it Simple Stupid - The simpler your application is, the easier it is for the examiner and/or interviewer to approve it. Try and make his job easy not more complicated. Good Luck

What document do you have translated that you are sending in your I-129F? If you are sending in a translated document signed by a certified translater then you don't need to have it notarized. There is an example layout on the USCIS webpage of how to have your translater sign for a document that was translated.

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffices...nal/index.htm#H

check towards the bottom of the page.

I'm curious to know what you are having translated that is being sent with the original packet. I didn't have anything translated.

Thanks to everyone your suggestions were quite helpful

Motu-nuts-to quote Jim Carey from one of my alltime favorite movies "eternal sunshine of a spotless mind"-"it has been suggested" :D

Sarah- my intended was married for a very short period, and we needed her divorce decree translated

I will follow the KISS method, and best of luck to all of you
