Appointment Letter in the Mail

Hello-

We just received our appointment letter for Nov. 28 concerning AOS and EAD...

1.) Do I, the USCitizen, have to attend?

2.)Are we supposed to proof something?

3.) Why are they taking his finger prints again if they did so in Ciudad Juarez?

4.)What the heck should we bring? All it says is to bring proper ID and the letter of invitation.

5.) How long after the interview does he normally get the EAD?

*** We are going to Spokane Washington

You probably received letter for biometrics. Its when your spouse submits his fingerprints and gets his picture taken. The title on mine was "ASC appointment letter"

5) it depends, EAD suppose to take 60 to 90 days from the filing date.

2. No, they will just take photo's and fingerprints

3. Different departments, different reasons

5. No set time (of course), aim is 90 days I believe

YEs it is the biometrics appt. So when is the appointment that shows we have a solid relationship? It's kind of hard to proof that since he has only been here for 2 months. We have a place together but that's about it. And some pics.

Hi Maria,

The interview for AOS could be 6 months or so down the road. But you may get another letter saying your case has been transferred to California Service Center, that means you probably won't have an interview at all. A lot of K1s who are adjusting status get their case sent to CSC instead of their nearest office. Just in case you have an interview, try to save anything that has both your names on it...like Christmas card envelopes, or bills, lease on the apartment, or whatever.

We have been transferred to CSC. Good thing because we don't have much to show. There is nothing in both our names. The joint bank account statement only has the name of the primary account holder. I'm not going to the bother of changing the utility bills to see if they can put both names. We don't have a lease or a mortgage. Heck, I didn't even change my name. Oh well, hopefully no interview so all is good.

The biometric appointment is normally very fast. Read your letter again because it says to take the appointment letter. He will have to fill out a paper when he gets there with info like your case numbers. They are on the NOA1 receipts for AOS and EAD, and are also printed by the barcodes on the appointment letter. He has to take photo id, which is his passport.

I am still taking Jorge to the apointment because it's a 3 hour drive from where I live. So this one is just a 10 minute thing....?? And there will be another one, which is actually an interview?

Yes, unless you get notice that your case has been transferred to California, in which case they will approve the green card without an interview.
