I have already filed my I-129f and waiting on the NOA2. With the initial filing, I sent in lots of proof of ongoing relationship, travel tickets, hotel receipts with both names, etc.

However, my babygirl was just in a motorbike accident and I can't handle it. I have decided to go stay with her in Vietnam until her interview.

My question is this: How do I show proof of ongoing relationship if I am living with her? No phone bills, no emails, no chats ... I can take photos, sure.

1. We mostly eat at the house when I am there, so no restaurant receipts.

2. I will stay at her house when I am there and while you CAN file with the police, she never has before and says her local police have been bad about foreigners staying in houses in that area. She says no one ever checks and I can just stay. But then we have no police documentation either and no hotel receipts.

I know many of you will say, file with the police anyway to get the document but if she is very afraid I won't be able to stay with her. If she won't do this, is there any other way for me to show proof that I was with her for a few months? (aside from my plane ticket to Vietnam and passport stamps?)

Any creative ideas would be great right now!

Thanks very much

Jonas

1.) Chuck and Kim and STLHCMC have lived there I think.

2.) Pictures will suffice I'm sure. Bombard them with a couple thousand.

3.) Regarding the cops, does she live with her parents? Have your Ba go with you and find out how much they want for "coffee and eat".

4.) Take a deep breath, everything will be O.K.!

"coffee and eat"?? I am assuming this means "bribe the cops?" That is fine by me but Phuong was saying that even with $$ they still hassle the foreigners there for some reason.

And this is off topic but how do you embed files from youtube?

Thanks

Is moving an option? Is this in HCMC? I've read online about how "they" don't like foreigners living in certain districts.

Go to you your control panel and his edit signature/insert special item/ YouTube/ paste the letter and number sequence beyond = e.g. v=12edfr. The 12edfr is the part to paste.

embedding youtube...

Copy the address in the address bar after the = sign and then go to quick access on the left and hit insert youtube. Paste what you copied in the address bar and then hit ok. To make sure it worked, hit the preview button.... Hope this helps

I am living with my Wife in HCMC right now. I've been here for a year now and I am registered by the police, and I also work in VN and pay their ridiculous taxes. My suggestion is try to find a job here in HCMC and use that as your proof of working to support the the both of you. You can also use the paper they give you when you get to Vietnam Customs, You fill out her address of where you are going to be staying at and they stamp it for you at the airport. The Cops do anything here when money talks, I don't believe that they will still hassle you when give them alot of money. They also let foreigners open bank Accounts at the HSBC bank in front of Diamond Plaza and Notre Dame Cathedral. You can also use that to put both of your money together to show shared funds. If you haven't already have the engagement party and take lots of pictures of you going around the tables drinking beer with her whole family, it gives her family a celebration of you guys being together since they probably won't be able to be at your wedding in America. Also you can register with the U.S. Citizen Services unit online and use that as proof of you being with your wife the whole time your in Vietnam. Hope this helps.

Another thing to consider is how will it effect your affidavit of support? That is one of the essential elements of the visa process.

STLHCMC was there for work and met his wife while in VN. Not sure about Chuck&Kim.

Aside: I certainly hope that your fiance is OK after her accident. Crack ups are very commonplace in VN. I agree it's no fun to hear about that being half a world away, but don't let it complicate your ultimate goal of having her with you in the US.

Best wishes for your fiance.

Thanks, I appreciate your words. I am worried sick. She is a tiny girl (I guess they all are, haha) but I feel it is my responsiblity to protect her.

As far as my affidavit of support, I work online mostly only needed to meet with my company in person once a month if that. Do you think I need to say that in my correspondances with the consulate or do I need to say nothing as long as I have my letter from employer, tax transcrips and 1099's? I get direct deposits with my paychecks too. Is this ok?

If you're able to keep your employment while you're there that's great. I am jealous of the flexibility. Doesn't sound like you need to explain anything.

Just didn't want you to get tripped up.

They tax me on my income that I get paid in the US. I get double taxed. I get tax taken out there and then I have to pay VN taxes also.

I leave the country every 3 months or so for work but I go to Thailand more than US. I go back to the US every six months for about a week or so.

Well, without getting into specifics about your situation, it should be possible to earn up to 80k without paying US taxes.

i know what you mean about the roads. It cracks me up to hear people b!tch about the roads here.
