Weird situation regarding PROOF of ongoing...

Hi folks, I have already filed my I-129f and waiting on the NOA2. With the initial filing, I sent in lots of proof of ongoing relationship, travel tickets, hotel receipts with both names, etc.

However, my babygirl was just in a motorbike accident and I can't handle it. I have decided to go stay with her in Vietnam until her interview.

My question is this: How do I show proof of ongoing relationship if I am living with her? No phone bills, no emails, no chats ... I can take photos, sure.

1. We mostly eat at the house when I am there, so no restaurant receipts.

2. I stay at her house when I am there and while you CAN file with the police, she never has before and says her local police have been bad about foreigners staying in houses in that area. She says no one ever checks and I can just stay. But then we have no police documentation either and no hotel receipts.

I know many of you will say, file with the police anyway to get the document but she is very afraid I won't be able to stay with her. If she won't do this, is there any other way for me to show proof that I was with her for a few months? (aside from my plane ticket to Vietnam and passport stamps?)

Any creative ideas would be great right now!

Thanks very much

Jonas

Being/living with your Fiancé seems like very strong evidence to me. That was a pivotal piece of evidence in our case and we were approved.

What you need is evidence you are living together. You actually being there from your entry date to the interview will show in your passport. Have her hand over your passport on top of hers at the actual interview. They'll see you're there and how long you've been there. You've got the best evidence there is.

Dude I am pretty sure that you can go with her to the interview. Just take you ticket, passport and yourself as proof. Just take you wifes accident report of medical bill. Actually, you being there will help the case and not hurt it.

hahahah thanks for the tips but you don't know VN very well! :innocent: First of all, VN doesn't allow the American to go into the interview. Secondly, 95% of accident and injuries here they never go to the doctor or hospital. They have this oil stuff they use for EVERYTHING.

pushbrk, do you think it's OK even without the police certificate? I know you are a "by the book" kind of poster. I will be taking a trip with her to Thailand once she is getting better. So that is good proof. I am also going to videotape a lot of our time at the house.

will the consulate accept a DVD?

One of the best thing in that areas is that maybe possible to get a newspaper and take of pictures with you together with that paper. I do the same thing when I was in the Philippines eat mostly at home but I used my credit cards to get some type of evidence that I was there and the expences I have showns that I do feed more than one person. A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS... AS WE SAY IT!

I'm not sure about this but maybe you can go register your visit with the US Embassy in VN. This way the embassy will have record of you being there. Its a good idea to register with the embassy anyways so you can get contacted in case of emergencies (i.e. terrorist threats, evacuations, any visitor restrictions, etc...)

Good luck!

I would think the entry stamp in your passport would be wonderful evidence!

The police thing is VN specific. You'll have plenty of proof you were there and the Consulate won't hold it against you that you didn't follow some regulation about registering etc.

Excellent suggestion.

As far as I understood the reply we got from the Embassy in Croatia, they don't allow the USC to come TO the interview (as in - they said it was for the beneficiary to attend), but the USC can enter the facility and be in the room. Any and all questions the USC needs/wants to ask come once the beneficiary is done. I see no reason why you, the USC, wouldn't be able to enter the Embassy as well.

Pretty much the same thing happened here in Croatia in September, when I had my last (unsuccessful) visitor visa interview - my fiance was not allowed to talk to the CO during my interview, but he got in and was in the same room. After I was done, he had a meeting with the head consul during which I was the one who just stood.. around.

Yes, that is how it SHOULD work but it doesn't work that way in HCMC, Vietnam. The USC cannot enter the room or the building even. Must wait outside. Nice and fair, huh?

I don't have anything to add, however I think the comment about registering or letting the American Embassy know about your presence there is a wonderful idea.

I did want to say I hope you're fiance wasn't seriously hurt, and hope she's soon on the mend! (F)
