We waited for 18 months and went to Hawaii (Oahu and Big Island)

our legal wedding here in the US was like....going to work, coming home, putting on nicer clothes, driving to the courthouse, done after 30min, driving to our house together with our 2 witnesses and had champagne and pizza :)

no honeymoon yet. we were just travelled out when we got married, plus we had just spent a week in vienna a few months before.

instead of a honeymoon we will fly to germany for christmas and spent our first anniversary in the same hotel where we spent our wedding night.

hi there, i toally agree that you dont have to spend a lot of money coz you are still going to spend a lot of money after this.. Aos and all that...

congratulations on your wedding, we live in southern california (Los Angeles County) we first plan to got to washington, fling there is not a problem coz its just cheap what costs more is the car rental and the hotel of course. so we decided we'll just bring our car and head on north of california..

we first went to YOSEMITE, then to LAKE TAHOE, then to the wine country of mendocino (FORT BRAGG) it was very nice because it was coastal, we are almost at the edge of the pacific.. after Fortbragg we then went to SAn Francisco then driven the 17 mile drive of pure scenery then last stop is in SAN Simeon where the hurst Castle is located .. our honeymoon journey took us 10 days to go around these area but alteast its less expensive and we get to explore our state.. i may suggest the same thing or go to state that is closer to yours..

have fun,,

I agree, you don"t need a lot of money to have a great time and to be happy, but wouldn't it be awesome to have 5000 to blow on an awesome honeymoon? :innocent:

I WOULD LOVE TO DO THAT..... (or to have the money to begin with...)

Anyone with good advice, experience on Honeymoon locations after the whole I-129f ordeal? I dont have a huge budget but its not cheap either, any suggestions? I figure its nice to think about something happy while I am waiting... :star:

Thanks in advance!

We've been doing the same thing to keep ourselves occupied during the wait :)

We have no budget at all for a honeymoon, I'm hoping my parents will help us out. We were hoping to maybe take a weekend escape to a bed and breakfast on Vashon Island (near Seattle). Beautiful place and reasonably priced.

My husband grew up on Vashon. Its a lovely little island. His dad still lives there. He's got a beautiful home sitting on Puget Sound. There are many wonderful B&Bs and great little restaurants to grab some dinner/breakfast.

After our wedding we didn't have time or $$ for a real honeymoon, so we stayed there for 2 days at his mothers house. She was away on vacation. We had a nice picnic at Point Robinson lighthouse. A Great day. :)

We went to the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota.

It's a giant castle and convention center, built entirely out of corn!

I highly recommend it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corn_Palace

Mitchell_corn_palace.jpg

To be honest, being 62 years old myself, I've been to more impressive places in my day.

But my wife is only 15, and she was like a deer in the headlights the whole time we were there.

The look on her face made it worth it- we had a great honeymoon!

  • 1 month later...

We'll be having a quickie wedding so i can start the AOS process asap (I hate the idea of not being able to work!) and will have a proper one in December.

But for our honeymoon we will include a skydive and i have always wanted to bomb around the everglades on one of those neat little hovercrafts.

I am easily amused. :-)

We had a situation like many others have already discussed; not much money for the honeymoon after our wedding. I agree about the "perks" of long distance relationships, we had already been together in Moscow, Prague, and Barcelona, so what around here could compare? We also had my son with us. We decided to stay in-state but to spend some time together in a new place. We went to the HarborFest in Oswego on Lake Ontario for a couple days, then drove to Niagara Falls and spent a few days there (yeah, I know, it's the cliche destination). We did have a beautiful time together, and it was good to do a little traveling state-side, which made my husband just as happy!

We're both history buffs so we drove down to Virginia to visit Jamestown because it was 400 years since the founding of Jamestown. So we went there and Williamsburg...even did two nights of camping. Then we went up to Gettysburg and on to Cedar Point. We had a great time.

I HATE miles, gallons, pints, words spelled without u's, and all that other jazz...

My fiance's interview is Feb 2nd. His flight to the US is March 2nd (decided to buy ticket early due to an amazing cheap flight and take the chance his interview doesn't work out according to plan). We have been planning a "big" wedding for March 27th with about 40 guests. We'll have the ceremony in a church, with a dinner in the evening at a hotel, and it's going to all be beautiful and relatively cheap.

We're not having a real honeymoon.. but he is arriving in Washington DC so we will spend some time there when he arrives (I've taken an extra 1/2 day off work so we have 2.5 days free when he arrives). Then I have 12 days off for the wedding.. so we'll drive up to Minnesota where our wedding is (we will live in Virginia) and spend a week there getting ready for the big day and spending time w/family. Then our wedding is on a Friday and we will spend our wedding night at the hotel where dinner is for the wedding... then spend the rest of the weekend saying goodbye to the family. On Monday morning we will start the drive back to VA as our "honeymoon." It's a 17 hour drive and we have to be home some time Wednesday so I can work again Thursday. It's a lot of driving but since we are driving up to MN straight through it'll seem like a nice relaxing drive back!!! :)

Those are our plans. To save money we are staying with family the entire time we're in MN except our wedding night. That helps a ton. Our wedding is very cheap too - total budget (including AOS charges) is about 5500. :)

if and when we can afford to go and take time from work

i think we would go down to the carribean or south american for a tropical honeymoon

he has never been before and we have to travel somewhere it is easy for him to get a visa to go or just travel with passport.

we are married nearly 2 years and still had no honeymoon
