Note the wording at the bottom of the Obama document, revision 11/01 (revision).

"This copy serves as a prima facie evidence of the fact of birth in any court proceeding" blah, blah, etc...

In other words, the original or facsimile thereof is not available. Why do you suppose that is?

The government keeps the original. All you get is a certified copy. The actual format of the certified copy changes over time in most jurisdictions.

so why not provide a copy of the original from microfiche?

So if I ask Trenton for a copy of my BC and if they send me what they send everyone else who asks for a copy, what do you suppose they'd say if I went back and asked for a copy from microfiche? The service exists for a reason, Obama's not special, he gets what everyone else who asks for reprints at that time gets.

Well, sure he is. He has the nuke button at his disposal, among countless other powers. A comprehensive document check is not unreasonable, given the gravity of his new position.

Has this ever been done yet?

I never gave the DHS an "original" or even any copy from 1982. It was from 1999.

And I lol @ being more paranoid of Obama with the "button" over Bush.

Well, in 8 years in was never pressed. As an aside, if you hold a position of trust in the USG (with clearance), you can bet that your background was run to ground. The requirements for POTUS are much more lax.

If no one seems to know, then it looks like something new just for Obama -- i.e. catering to the paranoid people. If we've managed to have 43 Presidents elected by the people under the same rules, evidently it's not broken. If George W. Bush and everyone else before him had the same standard Obama is abiding by, end of story. I doubt things are changing for Obama, nor should they. There's no credible evidence whatsoever Obama isn't lawfully able to be President.
