Olivia, Consider it done :)

We are very excited about this trip. Thanks for all the comments :)

:dance::thumbs:

Hey and seriously don't eat the meat there! Even at McDonald's! Chicken is ok like KFC. Western toilets are usually found in western restaurants. Oh and be prepared for culture shock Fridays if this is your first time to a predominantly Muslim Country, especially during major holidays there. Parts of Egypt are Westernized, other parts are in transition, and then there are parts that you think are Sudan and you don't dare go into because there is no telling what can happen once you're in. Don't go out into the deserts on the Southern Boarder! You'll be north so all you gotta do is be conscious of being a targets for Palestinian bombers looking to kill the most Israelis, Americans, Italians, British, Spanish. The fair skinned obvious European features make the best known targets. Sometimes they kill their own though? Why anyone would want to publicly blow themselves and other up is beyond me though. I mean what a way to die.

I think there is 70 miles of dessert between your resort town Sharm and the North Eastern boarder which has been under a cease fire agreement until negotiations failed and fighting errupted again most recently. My Husband hears reports that Sharm is pretty heavily secured so expect Egyptian Military with M-16 everywhere to protect the foreigners staying there. Tourism is the biggest income for Egypt.

You should have great weather. We just came back from Egypt and had very warm weather.

Take lots of sunscreen, an umbrella if you're very sensitive to the sun.

Also, take lots of hand sanitizer and some wet wipes or tissue for the bathroom.

We ate the meat and didn't get sick. It was a sit down restaurant. Unfortunately the grandeur of the restaurant doesn't mean a thing. When we were at a 5 star hotel, a couple we were with ordered wine and we ordered coffee. The husband then told us to cancel, as he noticed that they were only rinsing glasses and re-using them...without washing them thoroughly.

Will you be renting an apartment or something like that? Perhaps you can eat in, and prepare your own food to be safe????

Oh, and GO SHOPPING!!! I loved the shopping and haggling! Everything is so cheap there!!!

Are you serious???? Comments like that are rich considering it comes from people who haven't actually lived in this country! If I were to heed your advice, I'd probably never leave my home! I currently live here in Egypt and am really appalled at your comments here, which are obviously uninformed and definitely suffers from lack of actual living experiences within this country. I believe the original question was whether or not it was easy to obtain a visa at POE...and the answer to that question would be yes, but only depending on what country you are coming from.

Never, Never, Never Quit!

Why tell someone not to eat meat? Not everyone get sick you know...

ENJOY your trip, OP. Just be aware like all the regular travel stuff.

Oh I'm not saying they'll get sick. I'm just saying it's gross ya know. Even at the McDonald's.

 It's half in jest and half serious commentary. It's a fact I've only lived in Egypt 21 days and I read the news coming out of Egypt daily. I can post the links supporting those comments if you like?

Will that make you feel better about where you live? I don't think so.

I highly doubt they will get into the Sahara Dessert close to the Sudan boarder where just a few months ago several ppl were kidnapped by armed Sudanese men who said they crossed into their boarder when in fact they hadn't.

It's also posted on the US Embassy in Cairo's website the advisory warning on traveling to Sharm even though the last bombing attack on the resort was in 2006 against foreigners believed target Isrealis. That's just two years ago.

And the whole world is aware of the conflict on the northeastern boarder and I've been following the developments there.

So if I am ill informed then I have no choice but to assume it is the media you are refering to that is doing the ill informing and I wish to see evidence by you that can counter any of those claims.

The military is everywhere, not only at Sharm. I myself was happy to see how the Egyptian government values its tourists and doesn't want to see anything happen to them. I never felt in kind of danger any of the 4 times I was in Egypt, nor living there for 7 months!

I love Egypt and can't wait to return.

It's true there are Military pretty much everywhere tourist are going to be. It's when you get into some of the local areas that you see far less of them in the villages and more of them on the roads between the villages. Things operate much different there. I felt safe as long as Waleed was with me. Otherwise I don't know if I would go out by myself without knowing how to read and write and speak the language.
