Hi All,

Well I've arrived in Philly safe and sound! It's been a long few days and I'm exhausted but happy! :)

The short story is the the POE went smoother and better than I expected! Everything went perfectly and I breathed a huge sigh of relief when it was over! Here is the longer version for anyone who wants to hear it:

Glen's flight arrived Friday afternoon and we went directly to U-Haul and picked up our 17-foot truck. We proceeded to my sister's in Oakville where my furniture was being stored in the garage and began loading it up. I have alot of stuff so I started getting worried it may not fit. But, Glen and my sister made sure we loaded it up tight and also my car was filled to the brim. Finished loading around dinner (just in time as it began POURING) and we ordered Swiss Chalet for dinner yum! Got into bed by 9 but it was not a very restful sleep, I was so nervous and anxious. The alarm rang at 4am and we said a quick goodbye to my Mum and Sis.

We arrived at Queenston-Lewiston at 5:30am and there were no cars around. I went first and explained I was there to activate my K-1 and that my Fiancee was behind me in the truck with my personal items. He put my passport in this like vaccum thing which sends it into the office, he then gave me a piece of paper and told me to go park and go in the office. Not a word about leaving my keys in the car like other people have mentioned. Glen followed behind and we went in the office, no one else was in there (this is why I wanted to go so early in the morning)! I went up to the desk and gave the fellow my package. He ripped it open, asked me to confirm my address in the U.S. He asked when the big day was and I told him in 7 days. He proceeded to explain what needs to be done after marriage, and how I cannot return home unless I apply for (AP). I smiled and nodded but knew all of that thanks to VJ!! I then told him that I need to import my vehicle, so he sent me to the other desk where the other guy was. He was so nice and pulled out the instructions and made me feel out 3 forms. He then stamped them and explained I'll need to bring them to the DMV to register my car. I gave him the compliance letter but he didn't even peek at it or ask for my registration. He was making jokes with me and being really nice. Another note to point out is that they didn't once ask to see my packing list or what I was importing! Well the whole process took 1/2 hour and we were back on the road by 6am! The ride was smooth although it poured the entire drive, but stopped just as we got home! We arrived at our new home at 2:30pm, where Glen's entire family was waiting for us (his Gran was waving an American flag and holding a sign that said "Welcome to the USA Jill") so cute! Unloaded the truck and passed out early.

Yesterday Glen was off work so we went and picked up our marriage license and then went to TARGET which I really enjoyed! He's back at work today so I better start unpacking and apply for EI. I am SO HAPPY to be here and finally be together, but also happy the move couldn't have gone better. I was so nervous for the POE but it went great.

That's my long story LOL and now the second stage of this process begins...

P.S. Side note: at the POE the officer charged me $6 USD for the "form" and gave me a receipt but I don't really know what he charged me for and I didn't ask. ;)

Welcome to Philadelphia! I am waving at you from across the delaware river... can you see me???

HAHA thank you!! I love Philly, alot of people had bad things to say about this city but I've been here so many times and there are bad areas in every large city, you just stay away from them! Our neighborhood is nice.

There are some AMAZING parts of Philly. I personally love old city and South St.

I just stay out of North and West though.

Target is the s*it. It saves me from going to the mall which is something I have come to hate.

Jilla...I'm waving at you from the smoke stacks!! Can you smell the jersey stink yet?

I'm glad it went well and so cute about grandma and the flag. Welcome home :)

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I feel so welcome and happy, the fact that his family is being kind and loving means so much to me! Tomorrow his Grandpa is coming over to hang all of my pictures.
