My SSN number has been ordered and i have the letter of confirmation, however i am having a hard time getting employment without the number in my hand, i get hired and they say we'll start you as soon as you have the number. Well, driving there was a 1 time thing, the social security office. They are open 9-4, my Wife works 8-4 mon-fri, my mom in law works from morning until night and my sister-in-law has full time state school and 2 part time jobs, so im kinda screwed. Is there any wall i can call and give my receipt number and have them tell me my social up front?

They will not tell you the number over the phone for secutity reasons so you have to go in person to get the the number. It sucks that they open from 9am, in New york they open from 7am. I am pretty sure that you will be receiving it this week though.

That's great news, how is the job going at GAP Johnnie? Westwood said they need my social but i don't have to go to the orientation in Paramus, they said they can give it to me straight in their store. Sounds like a plan with the meetup... we still need that cold one. What kinda cell phone you got here? Tracphones are a piece of #######!

Have mercy, old bus be packed up tight.

Well, Im glad just to get on and home tonight.

Right on, that bus done got me back.

Right on, that bus done got me back.

Well, Ill be ridin on the bus till I cadillac.

To find out what is going on you need to go back into the SSA office. If you have been assigned an SSN the office can provide the number and you can request an SSN Verification Printout, which will provide you with some proof until the card arrives in the mail.

If over 14 days from the date the SSN was assigned and you have not received the card, you might need to apply for a replacement card, but offices normally keep applications on file for at least 30 days after being processed, so they might be able to resubmit the original. Make sure the mailing address is correct.

However, if the office is trying to verify your immigration status, you need to see if they requested a secondary electronic verification request. If yes, has it come back.

If it has come back and immigration has requested to see a copy of your I-94 or EAD card, has it been sent along with Form G-845.

For the secondary electronic request you need to allow for a month for a response, but normally they come back within a week.

If the G-845 is sent, you also need to allow a month for a response or before the office follows up on the request. No telling how long the G-845 request might take.

Yeah, but be sure to take ID, e.g. passport. Having the reference number just makes it easier to look things up.
