 Your thread got side tracked, and became something that was never asked. I really hate to see someone getting judged for questioning things and seeking facts. How can a person learn and grow if they just accept what they were told by people that have no true knowledge.

As for our husband's, and anyone they know, my husband knows one other person's husband here on VJ. It was just a weird coincidence. :star:

I would like to say thats true, how can people learn and grow if they just accept what they were told by people that have no true knowledge.

But I would like to add one thing that I noticed on these boards and that is

That when people try to share knowldege, or when people post something that is NOT what everyone wants to hear, if your not agreeing , than you are accused of judgeing and I dont always think thats what its about. Not judgeing but not what everyone wants to hear. Not "politically correct" as some would say. So if you dont agree with everyone else your judgeing, and its not always about judgeing. Its ok to to disagree, or to say what you know to be true instead of just agreeing to go along with everyone else.

Just my observation.

If she was asking for opinions or advice on her decision to take of her hijab it would have been acceptable, but she wasn't. If a person felt the need to discuss this topic then the responsible party would have started her own thread, and it would have been generalized rather than aimed at a particular person. Judging is wrong in Islam isn't it? Wouldn't hypocracy be as well?

It would be better to say "I am Muslim, I know it is wrong, but I don't wear my hijab. Rather than say "You don't wear your hijab? Are you trying to change the religion? Well no, I don't wear mine either, but I'm not trying to change the religion".

I hope this is making sense. I didn't view that Layla was trying to convince anyone that it isn't a requirement in Islam, but rather that she hadn't seen proof, and has decided to take off her own for her own personal reasons. That she is still searching for herself. I applaud this. If people weren't continually searching for the truth we might still believe that the earth is flat and if we sail to far out we might fall off.

Sister Leyla,

I am a self-appointed honorary MENA woman. I luvzzzz my MENA friends a whole bunch. Sisters Nawal, morocco4ever, Olivia, Maggie, and others have always been sweet and caring.... and when they misbehave, I resort to violence and kick their azz. :jest:

Your thread was hijacked and you were bullied by someone with little social grace. That is not cool. Ever. And I also applaud your search for YOUR relationship with god. It is YOURS. Not mine, not morocco's, etc.

Peace, Len.

Hello,

I am also from Columbus, Ohio. I think there is at least five of us that I know of in and around Columbus, Ohio and probably more that I haven't noticed that have Moroccan guys. My husband is from Kenitra in Morocco. We married in April 2005 and the last thing we did was adjust his status to receive the 10 year greencard. We are just waiting until we are able to apply for his Naturalization.

I don't post very often anymore because I have also been the victim of having my "...thread was hijacked and you were bullied by someone with little social grace" happen to me when I couldn't understand why. All I ever wanted was to help others going through the same process. Luckily I was able to pay forward and help couples with my husbands help. I never thought my way was the only way, or my knowledge made me the expert, far from it and no one else is either. But I do wish Visa Journey could be a better source of sharing so each of us can take ideals/information out of it we might not have time to figure out on our own to help us successfully through the immigration process. So I know how hurtful it can be when people attack you on Visa Journey when you only want to help or get information :star: . And I also know how lucky I was to have found some very good people on Visa Journey that supported me and knew I just wanted to help.

Since it's been a little while since I went through this process I am not sure how close it is to how it was when my husband did it. But if I can help you, I would happily offer my help. If you get an Ohio gathering organized, I'd love to join you all.

I'm confused Paula. What thread was that? I remember this one, but it wasn't your thread and no one was bullying you. Post 493 to 523. Is this the one you mean? If not, which one was it?
