anybody who has US military who filed for their K1 Visa??

please give me some advice,did you guys ask for expedite process for k1??

he will be deployed next year in Iraq,,

My fiance is USAF but we did not qualify for an expedite. If he has orders for Iraq you may be eligable. Get him to ring the free USCIS military helpline on 1-877-247-4645.

I'm deployed to the Middle East as well. No expedite, didn't apply and wouldn't qualify.

05AUG08 - Prepared I-129F at attorney's office

07AUG08 - Case received at VSC

13AUG08 - NOA1

18AUG08 - Touched

10DEC08 - NOA2

19DEC08 - Confirmed package left NVC, en route to Bogota

02JAN09 - Confirmed package received at Bogota

05JAN09 - Sent Package 3 by fax, waiting for some type of confirmation

09JAN09 - Called DOS, received appointment date of 09FEB2009, 0700

05FEB09 - Completed lab and medical

09FEB09 - Embassy appointment, visa approved

16MAR09 - Atlanta POE

26MAR09 - Requested SSN

25APR09 - Wedding date set

why you didnt try??

People don't for numerous reasons. Say you are deploying next month for a year, the visa process would be done fore you got back. Then how would you get married? I was discussing this with my fiance last night.

I thought about the expedite as well before I deployed but you might want to think about is that the route you want to take since he will be deployed do you want to be here alone. Its easy to file it now then get an extension from the embassy cause of deployment.

Our Timeline K1 My Version!!!!

11-22-06 She winks at me!!!!!

2-13-07 Fly to MNL

2-14-07 I get there for Valentines Day cause I am sweet like that!

2-20-07 I fly home....

7-10-07 I fly to Manila again before I go to Iraq

7-11-07 Engaged

7-12-07 We go to Tarlac to meet the family and stay there

7-17-07 I go home....

7-24-07 Go to Iraq

2-24-08 I come back from Iraq safe and sound cause I promised I would!

3-25-08 Fly to Manila AGAIN 3rd time on that flight (But it was a little better on Continetal Airlines to Japan cause there coach class has power ports for laptops.

4-22-08 End of the best month ever....even though I had to shower from a bucket like Iraq and buy her an AC cause I was dying at her house....Had to do the visa extension thing which was easy, I had a very good time for the month I was there and felt so much more comfortable about the future!

8-14-08 NOA1

8-19-08 Touched

8-21-08 Received hard copy of NOA1

1-29-09 Touched again

1-29-09 Approval Notice Sent PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME

2-02-09 NVC gets stuff MNL2009######

2-05-09 Received hard copy of NOA2

3-24-09 NVC is finally done with whatever adminstrative processing they had to do.

I wouldn't answer if I was still there but I am not! Thank goodness. Actually I screwed me and Mhay over cause I was like "Oh I will wait till I get back to do it!" Then i realized I didnt have my divorce decree and admin lost my birth certificate blah blah blah. Its all good now just waiting I guess. Military legal was no help.

In the package I put like every vague reference I could find to let them know I was in the military like a copy of my ID, orders, made sure I listed commands as last employers. I just think it might get her some kudos during the interview and maybe the Marine's at the embassy will show her some front of the line love! But who knows really.

We did the same, well we had to really as the orders were part of the proof to show we were in the same place at the same time.
