Hi everyone,

A friend of mine was interested on knowing about how I met my future wife and the process of the K-1 visa. I had explained a lot about the process to him and he had a question if he had a restraining order against him if this would hurt him if he found a special lady in another country. He has had two of them and one was recended by his ex-wife 2 days later. So this has left him with one restraining order against him. There was no violence between him and his former girlfriend, they bought a home together and had split up with her so he gave the home to her and her daughter. The girls mother talked her into getting the restraining order just in case. The former wife... Shhhhhhh! she was just plane wacky and was on meds... long story  , he comes home from work and wanted to shower and go to bed after working for 13 hours and as I said she was wacked out on meds. So she has called the police on him and the next day had a restraining order against him but then 2 to 3 days later she recended it by asking the judge to cancel the order of protection and he did. He was never in court for violence nor was he ever convicted of any charges of violence. Actually he is one of them guys you can hit him in the head with a 2X4 and he will say do it again please LOL. A little slow, but he is one of the nicest guys I know : ) So now he wants to look for love in another country but is worried that he might not be able to bring a lady to America because of these two ordeals. The first restraining order was 10 years ago he said and the 2nd was about 5 years ago. Any thoughts on this from any VJ members?

Thanks in advance and have a great thanksgiving!

Restraining orders are not "convictions" for domestic violence crimes. At most, even convictions simply require court records to be submitted with the petition. Doesn't apply to restraining orders.
