Do you find Organic stuff taste better... or you just like the Health consideration?

Organic dairy products definitely taste better than the regular stuff (and you can get them at Costco). Basically, organic dairy products taste like they "used to taste," not to sound like an old fogey. In comparison, conventional milk is like milky flavored water. I think it's money well spent. I usually buy organic apples too, to avoid the shiny, waxy coating.

I've definitely seen weirder nanny ads than this one!

Organic just means not grown in nasty pesticide environments- if my definition is still current. What Big Agnes refers to with 'the way it used to be' I believe refers to most aromatic produce being modified genetically. Nutritionally its mostly the same if not better due to the actual modifications, BUT... yes... the yummy smell can be replaced since some of the modifications impart longer shelf lives on the produce. Thereby making you see the produce but not actually smell it, which is a normal process of ripening that attracts predators like ourselves to eat it and then leave behind droppings to continue to natural cycle.

I prefer non-GMO for the most part due to the smell and subsequent taste issue.

Obviously organic as well. Don't want rotenone and other pesticides causing oxidative and toxic damage to my mitochondria.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

yeah me too

I remember this one where it said you could only take the kid into the backyard to play... you couldn't go for walks or anything and that they didn't even trust the grandparents to take the kids out....

I'm trying to figure out what is so odd...

Parents are looking for an experienced nanny who shares their philosophy or at least will abide by it while staying in their home. Wouldn't any parent? They don't want their babies exposed to plastics. So what? They want someone educated...OHHHH...and LEGAL. I'd have thought that would be a postitive.

I didn't' see anything weird either. It's like asking your nanny be of the same faith, live nearby or whatever.

What I think is lame is the salary. Taking care of a child with a feeding tube needs more training that most nannies have. No walk in the park, me thinkssss.

I don't see what's so strange about the ad. I guess its normal for me having been a private chef before. Its 100% that my clients in the past wanted organic, free range, healthy, etc as much as possible. One family even had me wash every single fruit and vegetable with a special serum they got from their doctor. (not exactly sure what it was)

If you were wealthy enough to afford a nanny or chef wouldn't you request they have a college degree and would want all organic foods and such in your house? I know I would! Actually it sounds like a pretty sweet gig. I've never been offered free yoga stress reduction classes from my clients! :o

I'm not an organic fruitcake but I have as many things as possible that are organic

Hey we all have different things we find important in our lives so while I might poke a little fun.....

I hope you don't think I was Mocking.

So do you buy all those items like, Organic eggs and milk etc?

if so, I bet your grocery bill is like at least 20% more?

One time on an "impulse buy", I bought Newmans own oreo-style cookies thinking they were really gonna be tasty..... due to all those organic ingredients.

I was very disappointed especially after they were like, a buck more than the real thing.

Do you find Organic stuff taste better... or you just like the Health consideration?

I tried the Newman's-Os once and found them to taste better than Oreos.

I do buy organic milk, eggs, produce, meat, etc or I grow my own produce. I think all of the things taste way better and I'm not really into consuming a lot of hormones or antibiotics that I don't need. I also try to eat local food when possible. I'm a chef so I take into consideration where everything comes from and I really want the best ingredients for everything that I eat.

The health consideration is also another reason why I buy organic. This website has a lot of information on the effects of chemicals and pesticides on our bodies. http://www.chem-tox.com/

Obviously organic as well. Don't want rotenone and other pesticides causing oxidative and toxic damage to my mitochondria.

When I still lived in Holland, I used to buy more organic products than I do now. They are so expensive here! :o I do think organic products are healthier. Also, I have a problem with hypoglycemia so I basically have to eat as little sugar as possible. And many organic products do not contain sugar. Instead, they contain cane syrup, rice syrup or other low glycemic sweeteners so they are better for me. Plus a lot of the time I think they taste better than regular food. I tried the Healthy Valley Oreo type cookies once and I loved them :)

You don't think the ad is odd?

please apply at www.APerfectNanny.com for immediate consideration.

There's a clue :)

That's what is odd to me, they want a surrogate parent. I find that incredibly weird.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

i think organic fruit, vegetables and meat taste better. not so sure about organic oreos though... maybe cookies with organic fruit in or something. organic oreos sounds like a gimmick to me. ;)

They want a perfect surrogate parent. The nanny doesn't have to believe in any of that stuff, just so long as she does what she's told. I still find it odd that anyone would want someone to live in and care - unless the parent is disabled.

caring for 3 babies at that young and specailly seeing as how one has special needs would be a lot of work...

I take care of 2 kids, one 5 months old and one 3 years old and that isn't easy :P I can't imagine caring for 3 babies at one time...
