A beer that can help prolong life and prevent illness has been created - the only problem is it tastes awful.

BioBeer has been genetically-modified by students in Texas.

It is brewed using a yeast called resveratrol.

The same yeast is used in red wine and is thought to help prevent heart disease, diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer's.

Researcher Thomas Segall-Shapiro told The Sun: "No way would anyone drink this until it tastes better."

I heard about this on NPR. The kids who are developing the idea said that a beer wouldn't be ready for at least another 2 years - they are all under drinking age currently so they aren't going to know what it tastes like :D

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

It is brewed using a yeast called resveratrol.

Resveratrol doesn't taste that bad.

Try these - all the benefits of red wine without the alcohol:

That may not be true.

Anyone remember the 60-minutes segment on Willard-Water?

http://www.dr-willardswater.com/sixty.html

Harry Reasoner:

"So what's in it that could make so many things happen? Well, a little liquid road salt, that's what melts snow and rots your car, and sodium silicate and magnesium sulfate and sulfated castor oil and then Doc Willard mixes some of it with powdered lignite. What you have finally are various mixtures called by different names: LA Water, (it has nothing to do with that town in California, it means lignite activated water) or CAW water, catalyst activated water. But it's all Willard Water, whatever it is."

Eh, people actually bought Willard-Water then; so why would they not buy the new beer?
